Open Air Cinema brings its 16x9-ft projection screen to market
Open Air Cinema's seasonal timing on bringing out its 16x9-ft inflatable projection screen is a bit off, but who knows -- maybe picking one up now will give you something to look forward to once the ground thaws. Or, be our guest and set up what's billed as "the largest screen available for backyard use" in the snow, call the neighbors over and break out the hot cocoa. For $999, you'll get a 220-inch screen that should put an end to any arguments about who has the biggest TV, and -- mercifully -- a blower that will inflate the rig in seconds so you can spend time getting the projector (not included) set up "just so." We figure that if you're going to be outside, you might as well splurge on the largest screen, but there are also 12-foot and 9-foot versions available for $599 and $449, respectively.

Right because I want to watch a projection in my front yard and invite my buds over.
Ha, that reminds me of that episode of Pimp My Ride a few years back. This guy was a big movie buff, and the idiots over at West Coast Customs decided it'd be a good idea to put a giant inflatable movie screen in his trunk, complete with a projector built into the trunk. Press the button, the trunk opens, the screen inflates, and the projector turns on.
Seriously, that is the stupidest thing they have ever done. And mind you, they did some DUMB stuff on that show. I mean, seriously, what would you think of someone who pulls up to a party, says "hey guys, watch this" and then proceeds to take up 50 sq. feet with a damn inflatable movie screen.
I just read on their site (www.openaircinema.us) that its under 20lbs. I'm a DJ and I use a fast fold frame that's about 80lbs. I'm sold. I could carry 4 of these babies for the same weight.
Wouldn't it just be easier to project the image on the side of the house? And, it's free this way as the projector isn't included so you'll have to provide your own projector anyway.
This thing would attract alot of bugs wouldn't it?
I could turn my trailer park into a money making Drive-in TV Theater.
I have one of these and i love it. its light and inflates really quick. it hasnt attracted bugs. the picture quality is way better than a wall is...plus you can take the screen anywhere you want. i bought the entire system from them. it came with an audio board, speakers, screen and projector. it only cost about $1,500. i love it. plus it will pay for itself since my kids only want to watch movies on this on the weekends.
My buddies parents actually have one that's about 150 inches and it was pretty sweet. We watched Full Metal Jacket and played Guitar Hero over this past Fourth of July. That was the highlight of the night.
