Walmart pushing Lionsgate Blu-ray Discs for $10 a pop
Generally, we wouldn't bother covering that Wally World was moving Blu-ray Discs at a discount -- after all, isn't that store like the low price leader or something? But this just reeks of something different. This just reeks of change, and we certainly hope it's a sign of things to come. With Black Friday far behind us, Walmart has seen fit to start selling a few Lionsgate (read: non-sucky) BDs for $10 each, and the news comes just days after one reporter questioned when Blu-ray software would fall more in line with the hardware in terms of dollars. Really, every other retailer out there has to pay attention to this should Walmart start to drastically undercut the rest in terms of BD pricing, so here's hoping the store puts even more at the $10 level, and soon.

Two words Lions Gates. Walmart will mark down prices just to get rid of titles which are taking up space, loss or profit.
I now feel like an ass for paying $35.00 bucks for the Punisher.
You should feel like an ass for paying that much for any single Blu-ray movie since there are so many ways to find them cheaper. Did you buy it at Sears or something?
Not to rub salt on your wounds, but the transfer for The Punisher was absolute garbage.
Oh well, guess Lionsgate is trying to get rid of VERY SUCKY titles. Guess something is better than nothing?
You think T2 is very sucky? That would be a Lionsgate title.
THizzle7XU,
it's not a bad movie but it's 17 years old and DVD versions are being sold from $1.99-$4.99 on Amazon and other places. You can probably get these titles in Hollywood Video or places like that in a package for like 3 DVDs for $6 type deal as well.
$10 is a good price but on more recent and better titles would be nice.. not 15-20 catalog titles.
It's obvious they are getting rid of the inventory of old and movies nobody is really buying anymore.
That release of T2 does indeed suck. I am waiting for the Ulimate Edition like they released on HD DVD. When are we going to get that?
T2 covers your action
Crash covers your drama
if you dont like either of these movies, i may begin to start questioning your taste
At least it's pushing Blu-ray and not employee's to get trampled...aww, too soon?
Hell, I think its a pretty good deal. I picked up Saw II the other day. Can't beat $10...
Good for the consumer, but this must be very short term, someones losing a bucket load of $ here.
Check out the titles and then check out the reviews on dvdreview.com to see what's good and what's not so good.
Ill check out the selection, but am waiting for T2 to come out in Lossless Audio.
After buying the Transformers Blu-ray for $10 last weekend, and now reading this article, I'm hoping that this will be the future street price of all Blu-ray discs.
If $10 is the future street price, BR is doomed, there's less money in this than a $10 DVD.
There may be less profit to be had in a $10 DVD, but you can't expect people to pay $10 for DVDs forever, can you? I mean, I have a hard time justifying more than $5 for a DVD, now that I own a bluray player. Who wants plain old DVD, when you can get the same thing in HD?
Of course, I also can't justify more than $15 for a bluray, so $10 for older titles sounds about right to me... hopefully this is a trend, and not just some limited-time thing.
Ten bucks for blu-ray! Now thats what I am talking about.
OH! I didn't realize that these were permanent price drops. I thought it was for just a short time. This is great for those just starting off.
