Philadelphia residents, NBC 10 loves you. We mean, it really digs you. So much, in fact, that it has taken to heart all those
surely kind letters you've sent in over the past few months regarding high-def news. Starting tonight, The City of Brotherly Love has another place to turn for high-definition newscasts, and that place is NBC 10. Reportedly, the station has been constructing an HD studio for months, and it has just now taken the wraps off of everything. Enjoy, Philly, and let us know if you're pleased in comments below.
Took them long enough; I'm liking it.
Isn't Philadelphia bigger than Seattle? The NBC affiliate in Seattle has been HiDef for quite some time as have ABC and CBS.
The major difference being that WCAU is not just an affiliate, it is OWNED by cash-strapped NBC.
I'll reserve my judgment until they add more HD field reporting and HD traffic maps cause so far, not so HiDef except in-studio and the weather maps...
It is a bright and colorful set though. The sidebar mask/graphics blend well since they aren't static and match the new color scheme. It is about freaking time. The world renowned independent broadcaster WFMZ, 69 News (oh yeah, Allentown PA, we're a bunch of freaks!), went HD back in May so this was a looooooong time coming.
