High Fidelity HDTV channel suite hits Rogers in Ontario
Ready or not, High Fidelity HDTV is now vying for your attention on Rogers Digital Cable in Ontario, Canada. The so-called HD Nature & Adventure Package will bring along Oasis HD, Treasure HD, Equator HD and Rush HD, all four of which are currently in "free preview" mode for customers with an HD set-top-box. Conveniently, there's no mention of what happens after the three month window of free viewing closes, but you can phone up Rogers to find out how much it'll cost you to keep looking.

These channel are great for showing off HD reception. I doubt that anyone watches them, though.
Unfortunately many of Rogers' so-called HD channels are compressed and marginally better than the SD ones.
Been watching those channels now in free preview but not impressed. Lots of pretty pictures but actual entertaining shows are far and few between. They seem to be treating HD as a gimmick ....
The movies they are showing are B films and some seem up converted and not in true HD. The audio is rarely in 5.1. Plus there is this annoying old dude who ruins the films at the beginning with his smug commentary and complete synopsis of the film. Ditch the old dude and commentary and get on with the film!
I'd pay about 3.95 for all 4 channels not worth much more than that.
