Czech Republic and Slovakia hot for prepaid satellite service
Now, here's a concept: prepaid DTH satellite service. In fact, it's a reality in Czech Republic and Slovakia, and evidently locals are all about it. Reportedly, there is a grand total of over half a million active card customers between the two nations, making it the "leading satellite platform in the Czech Republic and second largest in Slovakia." Tough to say if this prepaid gig would even work elsewhere, but you can certainly color us (read: the "sick of contracts" crowd) intrigued.

I recall reading somewhere that Dish Network does prepaid satellite service.
Dish does have pre-paid, but there are some restrictions:
"Customers with pre-paid accounts are not eligible to receive local channels or Regional Sports Networks"
So I guess if you have an antenna and don't care about regional sports, that would work. I'm guessing with pre-paid you would be required to purchase the dish and receiver, right?
Half a million active card customers - this number is for only one provider (Skylink).
There is also some competition here - Gital, UPC, DigiTV.
Yes, we are all about it :-)
