AT&T hits goal of one million U-verse TV subscribers
Just a day after announcing that U-verse TV was lit in select areas of Raleigh and Orlando, AT&T has reached its long-time goal of securing one million U-verse TV subscribers before the end of 2008. And yeah, the outfit's chief executive of telecom operations totally called this last week, but we're willing to bet he had access to some pretty confidential (and telling) figures. At any rate, the milestone has been hit less than 2.5 years after the service first launched, reaching some 79 major markets in 16 states. Kudos AT&T -- now how's about you get those expansion efforts moving forward at a frantic pace? You know you want two million by July.

1 million out of 300 million Americans. Hardly the big picture wouldn't you say.
titolajko - your numbers a bit off... US total population is ~ 300 million but only between 100~125M households.... Can't assume every single person has a different TV account.... the penetration is still low but higher than compared to the 300M figure. Anyways, not too bad of an accomplishment for AT&T. Verizon hit their 1M fios tv sub in roughly the same amount of time.
Months ago they entered the Atlanta market and I still do not know a single person that has it. So much for being part of the mothership.
Where's Miami in all of these role outs? A pal at ATT says there are rumors of it arriving soon but how soon if that? And really, with Vios and U-verse what are the great things about them besides crazy internet speed? Will my HD channels look better than ever without compression up the ass ala Comcast, Dish or DirecTV? Will my internet be held down by my block/neighbors?
Actually, according to their users Uverse has tons of compression on the HD channels due to the limited bandwidth to your house (admittedly, the SD channels are reported to look pretty good). I've heard nothing but good reports about FiOS, but it is not available in Atlanta, so I am sticking with DirecTV.
