Memorex issues firmware update for MVBD-2510 Blu-ray player
Memorex isn't spilling any details, but lo and behold, it has pumped out a version C firmware for its low-end MVBD-2510 Blu-ray player. 'Course, the player has only been out for a couple of months now, but it is apparently already in need of 23.1MB of refreshing. Oh, and don't bother checking for a changelog in the download hosted in the read link -- you'll just end up sorely disappointed. So, MVBD-2510 owners, we're all relying on you to hook your player up and report back with pluses and minuses. Who's down?[Thanks, Elmopio]

memorex is getting better and better.

I did the firmware update for my dmp-bd35 to ver 1.6, talk about a speed increase. Start ups, shutdowns, ejects, everything is sooooo much faster. PS3 is gonna loose it's position as the fastest bluray player.. Can't wait to see what ver 1.7 will bring..
The firmware installed, it will still not play my BD X-FILES DVD. It just shows a black screen and I get a snotgram when I push buttons. Probably because it's a Fox DVD.
Dark Knight BD fails to play after firmware upgrade.
Just tried firmware upgrade dated 24 Dec, and Dark Knight still wont play. On memorex's website, it says that certain films like this one are supposed to play with the new upgrade. ARG!
I'm having the same issue, i.e my MVBD1510 won't play Dark Knight!
I did try and burn the 12/24 firmware update onto a CD but when i loaded it in to the DVD player it wouldn't recognize it! Yesterday I called Memorex and was told the update had problems and in a week or so they'd be releasing an another update. This sucks!
Any other ideas guys? Thanks.
Got a Memorex 2510C for Xmas. It would hang on Underworld Evolution about 1/2 through. I updated to the 12/24 firmware and it played Underworld through. However, it won't play Dark Knight. On Dark Knight, it shows the "Do not copy screen", then the PG13 rating, then it just hangs on loading, with two spinning dvd disks. The special features disk plays OK. Very frustrating.
I haven't called them yet, but did fill out a tech support form over xmas. Haven't heard back though.
I appreciate hearing that there is another firmware update coming out "soon", hope it fixes the Dark Knight problem.
It bugs me how slow the drive is to respond to commands and load content. Are all the Bluray players that slow?
I installed the 12/24 firmware update also and had the same issue with Dark Knight (hanging on the loading screen with the spinning DVD disc). I let it sit on that screen for about 10 minutes until it managed to get past it and eventually went to the disc's menu. I was able to watch the film with no issues after that (though I still have to wait 5-10 minutes on that load screen each time I put the DK disc in.)
On a side note- I have an external LaCie d2 Blu-Ray (BD-R) burner. This Memorex MVBD-2510 would not load or play any discs burned from this burner until the 12/24 firmware. Now it has no problem with them. That was a pleasant surprise.
I've tried to load the latest firmware (ISO) and it shows content, ISO and then just sits there. I am also unable to get the general menu to display. I think these units will be returned by the hundreds. You cannot expect a typical homeowner to have the knowledge to burn an ISO image in the first place. I will call their tech support on Monday and then most likely ship it back that afternoon. I've done a hard reset also. Nothing seems to work.
The strange part is that the unit will play a DVD, but not any BluRays..
I can't seem to play Blu-Ray's either. I was having problems with "Get Smart" locking up after the initial logo screen. I did the firmware update and now it gives me an error at the same point saying there was some sort of problem.
I just tried to play "An American Carol" and it locks up like that before showing anything.
I can get Wall-E to play, but I notice some stuttering of the video when there's a lot of action on the screen.
Following the 12/24 firmware update my player would still at first not play Journey to the Center of the Earth, but a hard reboot did the trick. Others mentioned on a forum that they experienced a similar thing with other previously unplayable discs. Since the upload (and he reboot) my 2510 ha played every disc I've thrown at it flawlessly (and that's lots of 'em)
I too got player for Christmas have been frustrated ever since. Loads slow, I have to use setup everytime for resolution and audio because it will always go back to playing pcm instead of betstream. I did the 12/24 download but it would not recognize the disk also. I never had any problem with Black Knight. So far I can't play X-files new movie and one other movie Xfiles says I need firmware update and the other movie said there was a security issue. I am frustrated with Memorex and have contacted them numerous times. The are suppose to be sending me an update but have yet to see it. And what do you mean hard reset.
I also received my memorex 2510 for christmas had no issues until i bought Babylon A.D. i went on the website and downloaded the firmware update from 12/24 loaded it on and all i am seeing is a Black Screen. it is now 5.10pm march 9th and i am on hold right now for the last 18 mins. Just been told by them the firmware update will be published on the website on March 20th Alex is the name of the customer service rep i spoke to. 28266653 is the reference number they gave me.
