Time Warner Cable adds bundle of HD channels in Southern California
Today's a pretty big day for TWC cable systems all across the country, and just as North Texas was gifted with a bucketful of new networks last night, it seems that many locales in Southern California were hooked up, too. Far too many HD newcomers were added to cover in this space, but for details on exactly what areas will get equipped (and when), follow your nose to the read link. Yeah... HD Channels. Sure is fun watching HD channels on my HD-capable DVR with my HDTV. Except when more that 50% of the content is just SD black-barred or stretched. Not sure which is worse. What do you all think? P.S. In Anaheim, CA and it used to be Adephia so they do not support all of the T/W boxes with annoys the hell outta me.
It should be noted that Time Warner Southern California is a misnomer. It's really Time Warner LA/IE/OC.
twc nyc manhattan confirmed new channels in line up today
According to an e-mail I got from Time Warner a few days ago, Santa Ana will have the new HD channels on January 6th, with the official roll-out on January 11th.
It's amazing some markets don't have some of these channels already such as Discovery and Nat Geo. Those 2 are musts.
only very few markets don;t have those channels. the markets that were upgraded today already had those channels and were updated with
USA HD
Bravo HD
Sci Fi HD
CNBC+ HD
KVEA HD (Telemundo)
Fox News HD
Animal Planet HD
NHL Network HD
Fox Business Network HD
Travel Channel HD
FX HD
Science Channel HD
I was excited to see the new channels, but when I turned to the travel channel hd and animal planet...it said I had to order it. It didn't make sense to me since I have the standard versions of those channels and I'm also paying for the specific tiers for those channels, not to mention, the HD tiers. I've been a loooong time customer, ever since the adelphia days, but there's just too many problems.
I jumped ship two weeks ago. After I called TW and asked when the new HD channels were coming and they answered anytime between now and next Feb. I went to FIOS and I'm loving it. I have more than 3x the internet speed and 4 times the HD channels with the new channels now being on and I'm paying less to Verizon.
San Diego is in SoCal and we don't get any of this. They simply split Versus and Golf HD to have their own channels finally.
TWC San Diego sucks, show me the fiber!
I hope when I get home I see VS is HD. I doubt it though seeing as I don't even get it in SD.
Now if only they hadn't blocked all the HD channels from my HDHR!!!
Has anyone done comparisons between u-verse, tw, & fios?
Yes. Fios has better picture quality and more channels than both Time Warner and U-verse.
Time Warner has better picture quality than U-verse on HD channels. The number of HD channels on TWC may be more or less than U-verse depending on the market. New York City area TWC systems have plenty of HD channels, smaller market TWC systems may have fewer HD channels than U-Verse.
man i hope cablevision get disney and cartoon network in hd now that we got bravo, usa ,scifi hd those will make me happy.
I called TWC to ask why NBC-Uni listed Bravo HD & USA HD but not SciFi HD. The only explanation they gave me was that they have until February 2009 to add newly announced HD channels.
I have an SDTV that seems to pick up the basic cable. Am I correct in saying that an SDTV has circuitry to receive hd signals, converts them to 480i for display on my tv? In other words can an SDTV display hd signals?
