TWC gives New York City a new helping of HD channels
TWC made good on a big promise to update the Big Apple's high-def lineup back in April, and now it's hitting the City up with a second wave that's about half as awesome. Reportedly, the carrier has snuck in over a dozen HD channels to the Northern Manhattan system, while a tipster in Brooklyn found that Crime and Investigation HD, TV One HD, G4HD, CNBC HD, USA HD, SciFi HD , Bravo HD, E! HD and QVC HD were all available as of this weekend. At the rate cable carrier's are adding HD channels this holiday season, don't be surprised to get a NYC-sized bundle yourself. TWC also added mgm hd in brooklyn.
Umm... just over a dozen for northern manhattan?
They added 64 channels... on 12/17.... This was posted over a month ago...
I'm not seeing them. I live in Gramercy.
Southern Manhattan (below W79th and E86th) has not gotten any new HD channels yet - they are still in the process of eliminating analog channels in the lower half of Manhattan.
Looks like it's not only New York -- we're getting the same treatment here in LA. Nice!
any word on when it's going to arrive in lower manhattan?
quick question: so will all the analog channels be gone by February 17th for the digital tv transition? If so, will those in southern Manhattan most likely get most of these new hd channels that are available by then?
The February OTA Digital Transition has nothing to do with anything cable does. That being said, there are 'rumors' that Southern Manhattan will be seeing the massive HD additions on 1/31.
Also Southern Manhattan will only have 30 analogs left so they can add the extra HD channels. Still no MDN for NYC. They have ODN but no MDN which is Navigator for the non OCAP boxes.
They promised this for Queens also and I didn't get it on the 17th, then I looked all over the Internet to find it got moved to December 22, now it's December 22 and I still don't have the damn channels....
And now I see Verizon trucks all over my block and I think we're getting FIOS and I signed a two year friggin price lock with TWC A-holes and I never get the stuff I'm promised.
On top of everything else my bill jumped 17 bucks in the past six months (which is why I got the price lock, with the economy being in the toilet and all) and I have yet to successfully watch an HD PPView event without my whole cable box locking up.
I have tried to get five consecutive UFC HD PPV's and when you call them, they don't even know that they have an HD PPV channel for such events (probably b/c they know they don't have the bandwith or whatever to run them correctly) and when you tell them that you ordered through the remote and got a confirmation but then everything shuts down when it comes on, they jerk you around on the phone until you are a half hour to an hour into the event and you have to wind up watching it in standard def after your cable box unfreezes.
TWC NYC SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS
February 4th seems to be the day that we will be getting all of the HD channels. Finally we are getting some love in Southern Manhattan. Check it out here: http://www.timewarnercable.com/nynj/programming/channelchanges.html
