Sony's 9.9mm thin BRAVIA KLV-40ZX1M heads to Canada
While Sony's 9.9-millimeter KLV-40ZX1M will probably look downright chubby after CES 2009, it's still a slim piece of work by most standards. The LED-backlit 1080p screen is just about set to make the trek north, with scheduled availability in Canada this week. Just as a refresher, the set boasts a single HDMI input, 120Hz Motionflow technology, compatibility with Sony's BRAVIA Wireless Link and an optional speaker bar. The HDTV will sell for a stiff $4,199.99, so we'd suggest heading to a nearby retailer to check it out real good before breaking open the piggy bank.

Wow for that amount of money I could buy a normal sized 40 inch flat panel plus bluray surround sound with money left over
But wouldn't you rather have a television that rivals 90s models in thinness?
This would be such an advantage, I mean I spend hours on end staring at the back of my TV! Mind you looking at this TV side on, one could only assume the thickness they are mentioning here is only taking into account the top portion of the TV, the one third sized area of the back, oh wow!
That's very thin but when the base protrudes 6-7 to the back, what does it even matter? I think I'd prefer a thicker TV if it meant paying less, getting better contrast or other features.
I believe this is side-lit, not back-lit, and it will have the same uneven and off-axis characteristics as laptop screens.
It is not 9.9mm thin, it is 9.9mm thick. Realtor should stop talking about "this house is 3 year new" also.
