We've yet to see this for ourselves, but tipster Adam has informed us that Cox Communications is talking up a new On Demand platform via commercials. In fact, the spots have also led us to believe that a new software update will soon be available for the carrier's set-top-boxes, presumably one based on the Aptiv platform. Pictured above is a quick snap of what the future
VOD system will look like, though we're sadly unaware of whether this rollout will be hitting everyone or just a select few. Couldn't hurt to ping your local office and ask, though.
[Thanks, Adam]
Sweet! Another overpriced VOD service that I'm not going to buy anything from.
God bless you, Netflix Instant Streaming.
That looks like ass...or Comcast...take your pick.
I have used Cox's VOD exactly one time. I'd rather watch a BD or DVD.
Current screenshot aside.... Cox has the absolute worst GUI for their systems that I have ever seen. Even the old 1st gen satellite systems were better. Several relatives use them for cable and it is just painful to look at whenever I go over to there houses.
COX sucks. I hate the HD line up/Interface/Motorola box/remote/DVR. How is it that TWC has the same interface yet run so much faster? Could it be that SA makes a better box that Moto? DAMN I miss FIOS!!!
The EPG that they are talking is most likely the switch from SARA to Aptiv and the ondemand software is seperate. The above looks like it will be for the SA/Cisco areas.
