14 new HD channels on their way to DISH Network

The DISH Network press event isn't until 1pm EST on Thursday but Scott over at Satellite Guys managed to get a list of the up and coming HD channels in 2009 -- some of which are not available anywhere. The most notable is Comedy Central, but there are other welcome additions like CMT, Nickelodeon, FX, and Spike. Unfortunately there is no word on exactly when any of these will go live, but sometime in the next 365 days is about as good of a guess as we can give you.- BET

FOX NEWS?!?
Look, making Fox News higher definition isn't going to make the content any less stupid.
And, I've always wanted to know, what does a HD channel do to animated content to make it different than a non-HD channel (i.e. Nickelodeon)

I got HD over the summer and my wife and I were blown away by how good Nickelodeon (esp., Spongebob) looked. This was regular SD stuff that was upconverted of course, but wow what a difference it made.

Where the hell is AMC? If Madmen comes back, I do not want to have to watch it in SD. Though, Dish's AMC SD feed is much better than its local WB SD feed that is pure crap, thank god for OTA!

AMC, and the other free movie channels, would be a welcome plus in HD. IFC especially, as it frequently has the kind of movies you really want to see the higher definition for. (Never sure why people here think fast paced action movies benefit from HD. They don't. Motion = blur. But movies with scenes of exotic locales - now that's where HD just pays for itself.)
It beats me why they're putting Nickelodeon ahead of AMC, TMC, and IFC.
Yes! I was hoping for some new details on Dish HD channels soon. I thought we were supposed to have a few more added before the end of 2008. Oh well, I hope we get Speed in HD in time for the Daytona coverage!!
I called Dish on Sunday to ask about any new channels and the lady on the phone told me that on Feb 1st. they were coming out with new channels...lets hope these are those channels.
I'm speculating that they create a new more expensive TurboHD tier to add these to, which will still be fine with me. I was looking to switch to TurboGold a night or so ago but was kinda disappointed they didn't have Spike (for me) and MTV (for my wife). Anything to get away from the ****hole that is TWC.
That's great news, some good channels there, now all that is left for me is for them to get the HD locals for Duluth, Minnesota going, which is supposed to happen in February. I was hoping to finally see the Academy Awards in high def for a change:-)
More HD is always better....but where is Fox News, Fox Business, Turner Classic Movies in HD, and distant networks in HD...Lets get it all! Making the Band on MTV in HD...Diddy will look even crazier!
I'll be really sad when my TurboHD grandfathered price expires. ;(

Well, Its Feb 2nd, and still no new HD channels. I guess the CS person that spoke to Bryan was wrong.
They added two new HD channels on Dish. VS. and CI.
Guess I missed those... I've been looking for FX HD for some Nip/Tuck and SPEED channel :)
South Park in HD starts in 4 days and still no Comedy Central HD for Dish. Come on already!
