The Hauppauge HD-PVR is a device that allows you to record digital content from a cable, satellite, game machine etc from the component out port. Basically its bypassing the protections keeping us from recording encrypted content. Its used mostly with HTPC setups to view liveTV or record TV. This content previously was only accessible to HTPCs from a CableCard PC via Microsoft.

To be fair to Steve, actually this device will sell mostly to geeks because of the complicated setups for HTPCs ;)

Brent

Comments on Elgato adds support for the Hauppauge HD-PVR

Hey M$, how about some support for this in media center?

Ren

Comments on Elgato adds support for the Hauppauge HD-PVR

The latest Driver is very stable. The recordings are AVCHD and PS3 spec compliant... which is nice for editing and overall playback support.
I rec from my Comcast DVR to my PC ,,,and stream back to my PS3 for playback. This is the ideal set-up and I highly recommend it.
My movie Library is growing faster than even ;)

Rivertrance
