YouTube launches "10 foot" TV experience just for Wii & PS3 users

Sure, there's already TVs and devices out there ready to bring the YouTube experience directly to your living room, but today they've launched a page just for browser-enabled living room devices (the PlayStation 3 and Wii) to browse on a TV screen. Point your console to www.youtube.com/tv for the new page, those limited by their PC's can check out the video embedded after the break for a demo. It seems like it would be easy to throw a bone to Windows Media Center Extender devices and HTPC owners by opening things up a bit, but the Official YouTube Blog indicates this beta is intended to encourage more manufacturers to include unrestricted browser support (Xbox 360, please pick up the white courtesy phone.) It would be nice to see an upgrade to the YouTube experience on Apple TV, especially since the device pretty much pioneered YouTube on the TV set. At least give us HD videos in HD, Apple! Throw us a bone!

please tell me you're kidding, i dont know if you're exaggerating much...but if you think apple tv greatly pioneered youtube on the tv you're greatly mistaken. i might want to point out the shiny black console used in the youtube video after the break which has some countless millions more in the nearly 6 months before apple tv even dropped.

Apple TV is one STB that is even more overpriced than the PS3.

I checked it out on my PS3. I thought it was pretty good. A lot better than the pc version on PS3, especially with no keyboard or mouse. I would like to see the ability to view the videos in HD.

The PS3 does support Hulu playback, but in my test of it I received javascript errors and the playback was really slow.

I see this opening up many paths........all lead to something great.....

I did notice Sony said they were trying to get work with Youtube and have it more "PS3 Oriented" when viewed on the PS3..........would be nice

No it's not, also works on PC/Mac (or whatever)!!!! Duh!!!
Just use the latest Firefox version, download User Agent Switcher add-on for firefox, http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/ , add a new User Agent for PS3, see this link http://www.useragentstring.com/Playstation%2032.00_id_6492.php , and then voila, there's youtube.com/tv on your computer!!!

Actually, they probably would. After the success of the Netflix launch on the 360, MS exec Shane Kim said they were wanting to do more partnerships for streaming and mentioned YouTube specifically as well as Hulu.
