Granted that the quality today would probably not be up to what I get over the box, but in theory it should be able to deliver the same quality.   At the same time, I'd rather just pay the stations that I want directly and get the feed from their own web sites.  So it seems that if the cable companies want to advocate for "place shifting" by simply letting you access a live feed from the web then they would be shooting themselves in the foot.
