With the latest announcement from
boxee, we are really starting to wonder what's left? Sure we know there is plenty of internet content out there that isn't accessible on boxee, but not much. At the very least with that addition of ABC.com, you can now stream video from every major online video source worth mentioning. The bad news is that at this point only boxee Mac users can enjoy the season premiere of Lost via boxee, but the team is working furiously to add it to the Apple TV build just as soon as possible -- hopefully in the "next few days."
Thank GOD, hooking up my Mac Book Pro for Lost was getting really annoying
You guys should update the article, it definitely supports streaming in HD; it's even adaptive quality like ABC's web viewer.
I don't know what you are talking about, it is NOT in HD.
Windows version, Windows version, Windows version...sigh. That's all it would take to make me very happy. :-)
There is a windows version. It just isn't open to everyone yet. You need to fill out a form on their forum site and wait a few weeks.
followup - ABC.com is currently only available on the mac version, with appleTV 'coming soon'. It is not available on the Linux or Windows versions, and there is no mention of when that will happen, although I am pretty sure that it will eventually happen. Windows for sure, since that's the biggest demo. There should be no impediment to getting it on linux either, unless ABC execs have their heads up their collective DRM asses. But since CBS and NBC (hulu) are available in Linux...hmm...I'm not going to finish that. I'm not going to underestimate their corporate stupidity.
Last night I left a comment on a previous Boxee post about still waiting for an alpha invite for windows.
This morning I had an invite waiting for me.
Conclusion:
I think the Boxee team reads this blog.
Can this be viewed through the PS3?
No.
Mac OS X, Windows, and TV (Apple TV)
and Ubuntu only at this time.
