Disney to release Bolt on Blu-ray two days before DVD
Although Blu-ray has been out for a few years, it is still pretty new and thus the studios are still testing the waters to see what works. The latest test by Disney is one that Blu-ray fans have been recommending for some time; release new titles on Blu-ray before DVD -- but we suspect that many had more than a two day lead time in mind. Although this will be interesting, we still think Disney's previous test of including a DVD with the Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray Disc was more interesting. Also, like the more recent titles from Disney Bolt will feature some BD Live content as well as a digital copy.

Make it a week or two sooner, AND include a DVD copy with the BD version. I really don't think 2 days will make a difference.
I was going to get this but no 3D version, no thanks !!
I second that!
I'm actually kind curious if this release will have the Mater in Tokyo short that was in theaters.
There is a 3 disk version of Bolt that will have a DVD and a Digital Copy.
Thanks for the heads up. With kids in the home, you want the DVD version they can watch in other non- BD rooms, or in the car, etc.
If they release this within regular pricing then we have a good thing. Otherwise paying more for a DVD copy and digital copy of the same movie in addition to the Blu-Ray version is unjustified.
Thanks for the heads up. Like DEEZNUTZ said, when you have a child (and an SDTV) a DVD copy is pretty much required.
A step in the right direction but is there any reason why Disney hasn't released all of their Pixar movies on blu-ray?
Im guessin cus it takes time to convert their older catalog titles. Monsters, Inc. is supposed to come out this year and Toy Story 1 and 2, this year and next respectively. They are also re-releasing both movies in theaters in 3-D as well as part 3
TWO days? Really? That's all they can spare?
If they want to make a difference, it's got to be a week or two. Two days is nothing...
"We can go get Bolt on BD now!"
"Ya, but if we wait until Saturday we can get it half that price on DVD."
I am not against the idea of moving to BD, but until prices come down to the same ticket price as DVD I have no interest, in the current economic climate they had better do this fast.
Unsure about the states, but here is Australia we pay about $35 to $45 AUD per blu ray disc (for new releases) what a joke!
For those that keep wishing lower prices... you should have supported HD DVD.
I can't see prices in Australia..but $35 is too much to pay for a movie... here in states I normally see new releases around $22-$25... a bit high for me unless I really want the movie.
$22-$25 is a bit high? Come on...I know it is not as cheap as dvd but this is a better product and I think you're dreaming if HD DVD's would be any cheaper than blu-rays are now...
As blu-ray and HD continue to increase in market share, prices will come down....

If they really wanted to promote the blu-ray format they would release the film a WEEK before the dvd release, now that would get some people considering moving to blu-ray a reason to seriously consider things. Still, 2 days is a start.
