DivX Connected v1.5 now friends with MKV / H.264

DivX Connected v1.4 brought us the highly anticipated addition of Hulu support last September, and now v1.5 is bringing a few extras that are also quite delicious. The v1.5 Beta, which is out this very moment, adds in support for Matroska (MKV) and H.264, though you'll need the newly unleashed DivX 7 installed in order to experience the magic. Darren, MKV is not a codec, it's a container. If it was a codec then so would have been AVI, but alas it's not.

Is the DSM-330 the only DivX Connected device available right now? That is the only one on the DivX website that I could find and it does not do 1080p.

I agree I have one of them from the Beta test, but I was so annoyed with the sluggish interface and the fact they dropped the stage 6 content I have not turned it on in months. It was pushed up to the bedroom tv and barely got any use there too before I gave up. I am enjoying my WDTV box in that room much more.

I will probably flick it on this week though to give it another chance. Having the network connection and HULU seems to be an advantage.

FYI, this release also added HTPC features, that allow you to use the software as a 10-foot interface and hook your PC directly to the TV. So you don't need a DSM-330 to check it out on your TV.

If you have to have a PC to use this app, what is the advantage of using it over XBMC? I tried the PC version to check out the UI. It is certainly better than the popcorn hour, but does not come close to XBMC. Or is this intended just for divx centric folks?
