Can't wait to see
Watchmen when it comes out March 6?
Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic is set to hit shelves on DVD and Blu-ray three days earlier and will include a sneak peek of the "Prison Break" scene from the motion picture. C'mon, after obsessively reading and re-reading the graphic novel and watching and re-watching every trailer you're going to let a mere $34.99 MSRP keep you from a high quality early preview of the movie? That the Motion Comic is included on the disc is probably just an added bonus to some.
Okay, but what is a "motion comic"? Do the pages shake, so you can't read them?
The Watchmen Motion Comic... As told by Michael J. Fox...
Yes, I'm fully aware how tasteless this is... :)
I don't know how it is done with this one, but some of them are like comic pages that pan from page to page and pannel to pannel and the word bubbles pop up. Some will have very basic animation, some can have voice overs like a book on tape etc. At its most basic, it's a comic on video/ your TV for the paper-phobic.
The comic is on Itunes if you want to get a taste of what it is like.
It's actually not a bad idea what they did with this comic. It just really sucks with one pathetic narrator. The D bags name is actually Tom Stechschulte, some unknown audible book narrator. I wasted my money on the TV series at itunes, where they are only up to chapter nine. Don't waste your money on this shite. Even if you are too lazy to read a flippin comic.
And now Warner Brothers is bragging about a new trailer you can see with the DVD of this shite. When it is only available 3 days before the actual theatrical release date. Come the puck on. Not only is it evident that WB is trying to milk every penny out of every Watchmen fan, new and old. They are doing a shite job with it too. Luckily Zach Snyder came into the scene to save this film.
Couple things, bob. Tom Stechschulte is actually an incredible narrator -- you should check out the audio version of Cormac McCarthy's The Road. And I'm pretty sure he's the same narrator as in the iTunes releases of this. I'm sure the DVD is the whole story that you see broken down into chapters on iTunes. Which, as a fan of the story, is pretty enjoyable. Comics still don't appeal to everyone, and I think you have to give credit where credit's due -- WB (and Snyder) is hyping the original story in a creative way, hoping to find more Watchmen fans before the movie's due. Plus, they did just agree to pay Fox for some of the rights to the film (have you kept up on the legal trouble of getting this released?), so you're right, they probably are trying to keep as big a piece of the pie as they can. Can't fault them for it.
this is a great watch if you dont have the comics or dont feel like reading the comics. i do admit that the female narrating absolutely SUCKS because only one person narrates throughout the whole movie! he does a really horrible job narrating female voices. in fact, he doesn't even narrate in a much higher pitch for the female parts. you can easily get confused on whos talking if you dont actually watch the movie because all the voices sound so similar. other than that, its fun to watch. i love the watchmen and can't wait to see it in the imax!
