All week, we've seen stats, figures and speculation based on Netflix's earnings call leaking out, and here's a few more interesting notes gathered from around the Internet for those not glued to their speakerphone Monday. Checking in to the party was always talkative analyst Michael Pachter, suggesting that the
Xbox Live / Netflix combo could bring more than 1 million gamers to
Netflix over the next year, with the service becoming a "gold mine" for the video rental company. At the same time, while CEO Reed Hastings touted "millions" served by
Watch Instantly streams, the number of Blu-ray subs rose to 700,000, up from
500k at the beginning of December. Whether you count that as a victory for digital distribution or old school discs, those still checking their mailbox will be happy to know the company is testing Saturday shipping in certain regions...as long as the USPS keeps mailing six days a week.

First? Netflix streaming is great. Overall, Id say im happy to have it streaming to my Xbox even it only has stereo sound.
pretty interesting that there are more streamers than bluray subscribers.... just goes to show you that this whole online movie thing is coming faster than anybody thinks.
just imagine how many would be using it if they actually had new releases.
Well it is free with your subscription as opposed to the upcharge and requirement of having a BR player. I'm sure that accounts for quite a bit of it. If you even "just checked it out" you were "served".
common sense would tell you there would be more streamers than blu-ray subscribers. I have a feeling there are more people with computers and high speed internet out there than Blu-ray players. Im still pissed off that every recent release in my que still has a freaking "long wait" on BR. I thought the extra money they were charging for Blu was suppposed to help this problem.
Yep we use online from our Roku and use all the network online stuff as we don't see the value in a cable bill. Hulu, NBC, Fox, etc all offer their content a day or two after it's online. What's the advantage of cable TV? More channels? More stuff we don't watch. Shrug.
Online delivery is the future.
You can BR. We've got two HDTVs and in the end I couldn't care less if it's HD, SD or crappy pixelated junk - I don't watch movies or TV for the sound quality or iamge quality.
I do care if my football is HD but beyond that...whatever...
"just checked it out within the last month".... so basically it means an active users since xbox launched last nov (which is likely the biggest section of people by a wide margin).
and with bluray only costing $1 more than a normal plan i have to imaging a very large percentage of people on netflix are paying for it so that should be a pretty accurate figure as well.
didnt know that they didnt ship on Saturdays.....coulda sworn I've gotten emails saying they shipped a few movies on Saturday mornings b4.......
With Netflix seeing how well the streaming is working for them, I am signing up as soon as:
1. New AppleTV model is released,
2. Boxee gets installed on it,
Booom. Let the couch potato-ing begin again.
Id rather wait til the boxee settop box comes out.
by that time i hope boxee ads amazon, vudeo, and blockbuster support (if blockbuster goes subscription based)

The amount of Blu-ray Subscribers increase by 200,000 in less than 2 months. It does show you that more people are adapting the format. That is a decent % upwards. If they hit over 1 million Blu-ray subscribers by June that would be cool.
When I bought my last XBOX live 13months card it came with a free netflix trial.. so of course I will try it and get counted as having used their streaming product.
Watch, as soon as Netflix announces it is beginning Saturday shipments, the USPS gets its approval to stop mail service on Saturdays...
