Sony issues revised firmware for BDP-S350 Blu-ray player
Sony already gifted its BDP-S350 Blu-ray player with BD-Live functionality last September, but apparently that firmware just isn't good enough any longer. The outfit has just released a newer version that elevates the machine from 010 to 015, and with the update comes "improved BD-Java compatibility to enhance interactivity with some BD-ROMs and improved BD-Live performance." The file weighs in at a rather hefty 49.42MB, so hit up the read link if you're interested in getting it started.

Michael were you able to download the s550 update? I get an "No webpage was found for the web address: ftp://download.sony.com/US/bluray/UPDATE_BDPS550_VER015.EXE" error.
McLovinPart2: The answer is yes. Scroll down on the Sony page to see instructions on how to burn your own CD. Be sure to use CD-R media.

havent seen any difference with this firmware though.
I got one of these players for Christmas and got it working on Jan 6. The delay was due to having to run an ethernet line from my computer room to the tv room (and through 8 inch think concrete walls in my basement). When I turned it on the rirst thing I saw was the notice from Sony that update 07.4.10 was available adding level 2 to my player.
This evening I saw this article on engadget, went down to the tv room and switched on the player and there it was - just as engadget had reported - the player notified me that version 07.4.15 was ready. Took about 15 minutes to download and install but all went perfectly.
Now the only question is - what did this change? The "features" of this update are exactly the same as had been listed for version 10. Since I only have a few blu ray titles so far I'm guessing this update my have prevented problems that have been reported on the use of some titles I don't own. Still it good to know that even though Sony has had this unit on the market for a while, and I've only had it in service 25 days Sony has provided 2 firmware updates over that same span of time.
While this may be considered an entry level player I am finding it to be an excellent choice.
Hey there...I'm new to this player bought it couple days ago, can i download the firmware on a disc and then install it? Sorry for the stupid question!!!!!
richardh: Seems to be minor fixes and not new features:
Improves BD-Java compatibility to enhance interactivity with some BD-ROMs.
Improves BD-Live performance to enhance interactivity.
I want the 350, but the price is now stuck at the high-end again ($299 on Amazon). I can almost get a 550 for the same price on sites! When it hits $229, I'm in.
