Star Trek: TOS and Trilogy gets US box art, release date
We already saw these delightful pieces of Blu-ray magic unveiled in Norway, but TheDigitalBits has confirmed that Star Trek: The Original Series - Season One, Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection and Star Trek: Motion Picture Trilogy will all ship here in America, with the former shipping on April 28th and the latter two on May 12th. The details about each collection are far too lengthy to cover in this space, but you can head down to the read link if you're even remotely interested in dropping $118, $104.99 or $29.99 (in order of mention).

7.1 True HD, very nice................Star Trek movies, among my all time fav's, this is gonna hurt the wallet!
wonder if toshiba really did fund the transfer i wonder if they had to pay toshiba for it or if they did a new transfer? either rate it was outstanding on hd-dvd would definately recommend to the trekkie's out there
Overpriced, especially in this economy. But, trekkies will give up food for this.
I'm happy w/my HDDVD series 1 collection I paid $45.
I'm sure you'll be able to find these for much less than retail. The HD DVD set retailed for over $200, but you were easily able to find that for around $115-125.
I'm guessing you'll be able to pick it up for around $60-70.
Well the trilogy is nicely priced, and would only leave me wanting VI and some of the Next Gen movies.
I recevied ST: ToS HD Remake on DVD for Christmas from my wife. They really did an excellent job. I don't see the benefit of these being transfered to Blu besides the possible sound upgrades. I'm a Trek fan but I guess you could say not that big of one.

Sour grapes from the HD-DVD folks because we're paying less than half of what you paid?
Say it isn't so.
They can take small comfort in that a few features in their edition aren't making the new releases.
I think I might wait on the movies for a bit to see if more comprehensive releases are coming later.
Um, actually I paid $18.50 for my HD DVD set (brand new & delivered).
If you can really see a way for me to be in any way 'sour' about that then go ahead & explain.
(and when the Blu-ray version for the 2nd & 3rd series drops to a similar sane price I will buy them too)
Damned if I'd pay that sort of money on the moves either, I'll wait until they're at the sub $15 level.
the only sour comment i seen was from you and i pretty much thought they were smoking crack when i seen how much they wanted for it when it came out on hd-dvd and only picked it up when amazon.ca put it on sell for 45
F YEAH!!!
This is gonna be better than the second coming of jesus, because this is actually going to happen!!
You're right, it is overpriced, and I'm sad that I'm gonna have to pay an extra fifty bucks just to own star trek VI, as treks I and V are worthless, and even sadder that I'll have to buy the directors editions of II, IV and VI later on, but I can't understate how stoked I am about this.
It looks like they really went all out too, TrueHD 7.1 audio (which I'm set up for, but own only 1 BD that has it), tons of HD special features, etc. This is going to be an EVENT.
Now if only lucas would get his act together and follow suit...
You're comment is really stupid in so many ways. "Better than the second coming of Jesus", I guess in-breading and mental retardation runs in your family.
I am buying all three seasons on blu-ray but I holding off on the movies until they release the director cut or uncut versions of the movies. After watching the Motion Picture with the new scenes there is NO WAY I can go back to the theatrical cut, its just not the same. But the original series, with updated special effects, HD, and 7.1 my god that is going to be sweet. KIRK......SURR....ROUND SOUND.
I meant "your" not "you're".. See, your stupidity is rubbing off on me and I'm on the net. How bad it would be if I was related to you.
Why are you being such a jerk? He's excited - let him express that however he wants without trying to make him feel dumb for it. People like you make the world a darker place.
"Using seamless branching, you will be able to view the episodes either with the newly-remastered digital effects or the original effects..."
"Note that this will mark the first time that the theatrical editions of Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country have been released on either DVD or Blu-ray Disc."
"Star Trek II has undergone additional restoration work starting with the original film elements in a process similar to the recent Godfather restoration."
"Star Trek V: The Final Frontier"
OMFG! These just guaranteed that I'm going to be spending a hell of a lot of money when these come out! Yes, even "Star Trek V"... The completionist in me demands all of the movies, even the less favorable ones.
A bit too much for a single season. I'll wait until it's around $29.99.
Also anxiously awaying ST:TNG on Blu-Ray. They're going to make a fortune on that.
