Honeywell to release 82-inch Altura LCD this fall
Soyo's been marketing poorly-reviewed LCDs under the Honeywell name in the US for a few months now, and it looks like it's going to try and make up in size what it's lacked thus far in quality: get ready for the 82-inch 1080p Altura LE to hit a shopping channel near you. Actually, get ready for quite a few Altura LEs, since they'll be offered in five screen sizes as Honeywell's "top of the line." Hopefully that means the poor black levels and shoddy, impossible-to-defeat image processing of the original Alturas have been improved, but honestly, we're not willing to let this 303-pound behemoth anywhere near our now-precious Kuro to find out.

oh no! the poor lady's turning into a flower! somebody help her!
>.
stick to thermostats.
Forget that RCA mood lighting, Will integrate into my thermostat, so when I watch "Day After Tomorrow" My AC will turn on full blast....
OMG where is her left eye?!!
Next we will hear how McDonalds is going to be releasing their own car.
Please, stick with what you know. Honeywell is umm... thermostats and other home automation items. NOT a/v.
...and aerospace equipment, avionics, chemical, automotive, electronics, automation, consumer products. Why on earth would they associate their electronics with Soyo but not another better known OEM like Benq is beyond me.
Honeywell has many brands that consumers may recognize. Some of the most recognizable products are its line of home thermostats (particularly the iconic round type), Garrett turbochargers, and automotive products sold under the names of Prestone, Fram, and Autolite.
thats thedown side to HD, you can see when people really need to use head n shoulders
that's not dandruff. ;)P
oh, god.
what's that in metric ?
Honeywell makes more than just heating/cooling products

1,942,839.89mm^2. Be interesting to know how far away one has to sit in order to actually see it in all its dandruff enhancing splendor.
Good God, what is with everything getting bigger? It's either excessively huge to a point of being dinosaur-like or excessively small to a point of where-the-fork-is-my-gadget?
Where are the NORMAL sized products? The writers of Wall-E were right....
i would like to have that pic as my desktop wallpaper, guys can somebody help me to get that image please.....

pick LCD TV, any model and High Res Images...in the zip use the front.jpg, crop and resize as you like and bob's your uncle
I'd like to see more alternatives to the large plasma screens. This is a step in the right direction. Hopefully, more companies will make larger LCD displays.
thats a big resolution, I can see dandruff on her hair
wtf poor black level? this something against us black people? oh wait your talking about the contrast lol gotta make sure not all us educated black people would understand this... remember the obama and the monkey drawing in the paper.. watch ur words.
Front Projector..FTW!
If this was an RCA, you would've been champing at the bit to anoint it the next Jesus TV.
F'n RCA fanboys.
Hope they learn their lesson from Panasonic - can't say enough good things about its awesome black levels and picture quality (Plasma)
This is to everyone bashing honeywell and telling them to stick to what they know:
You do realize honeywell is a multi million person company right?
They make far more than just thermostats.
garrett turbo's are made by Honeywell. Just because it doesn't have a honeywell logo doesnt mean it's not made by them. There are many companies out there owned by Honeywell.
Also, Honeywell has been in electronic materials for years. they supply INTEL and AMD with materials for making their processors.
Honeywell also makes the first step for making LED DIODES.
Please do some research before bashing such a successful company.
Being already stuck with a completely terrible Soyo 32" LCD that they marketed under the GoVideo name, I feel pitty for anyone who gets suckered into buying this.
Even if they now have a better product, dealing with their awful support made me wish that my wife had never bought the thing. I spent 6 months dealing with their support, teice being told they would replace the TV, then changing their mind the next day.
At the time I had a PC with a Soyo motherboard too. No Soyo products for me after that.
Honeywell CEO, Cote interviewed by Jim Cramer tonight was great - crushed the nay sayers comments on this thread too. As for ratings, Honeywell HDTVs are racking up good, if not great reviews from customers and unbiased reviewers. Check out HSN reviews 5 star ratings from recent buyers or this 4.2 of 5 from Benchmarks review - http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=248&Itemid=68&limit=1&limitstart=9
David Katzmaier at Cnet sucks and his is the only negative review. CNET accepts sponsorship from Sony, Samsung, Sharp - go figure how biased the reviews are.
