Why? So, if you're like me and have shifted most of your purchases away from DVD to Blu-ray, you can watch said BDs on the go. I don't think they're trying to convince anyone that you need Blu-ray on your 9" screen because it will look vastly superior to DVD (although I am sure it will look a little better, especially in terms of color and contrast). No, I wouldn't buy this unit, especially considering the $1K price tag, but prices will come down over time and many people will have a need (i.e. parents with children who want to watch their Disney Blu-rays while on long car trips).
