Just in case the HDGuru didn't carry enough credibility for you, Panasonic has finally issued a press release with prices and shipping months for most of its
2009 VIERA brand lineup. We've taken a peek, and everything appears to
line up with the leaked figures, including that slim wireless HD equipped Z1 and its $5,999 pricetag, while only copping to a summer ship date. The rest of the lineup proceeds downward in pricing and features from there, the wall-busting details are but a mere click of the read link away.
72Hz please.
you know, never was a big fan of 48 or 72hz playback. just never developed the taste for it compared to 3:2. if it's not a 5:5 pulldown capable set, i'd prefer good ol' 3:2...
Under "Panasonic VIERA LCD HDTV" in the press release the 32-inch TC-L32G1 is described as 720p, whereas in the listing under "About Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company" (and on the Panasonic Web site) it's described as 1080p.
This news is over a month old. If you haven't bought a Plasma now is the time. The technology is much better than any LCD by a long shot.
Agreed, now that Pioneer is out of the game, VIERA is THE TV to buy, and if the trend continues you may not be able to get a plasma for much longer. The day Plasma is finally killed by LCD will be a sad sad day. I just hope it doesn't happen before OLED has a chance to take hold in the market. That is the true Plasma replacement, LCD is a joke.
After reading the reviews of the G10 series on AVS by Cleveland Plasma, this will be the year of the plasma for me.
"Good news, the G10's Blacks are blacker and the whites are whiter compared to the 800U. Contrast ratio is 3X better."
"The custom mode this year can be dialed in better than the THX mode of last year (per chad) ( So who cares about THX? ) The contrast ratio is about 3X better. Chad will post the charts and review later tonight or tomorrow.
no worries, the G10 is better overall compared to the 800U."
The way this press release is constructed, it's damn near impossible to determine the differences between the different model lines. Who can tell me all the differences between S1, G1, G10, G14??? I'm not even sure which series' apply to plasma, lcd, etc.
Panasonic previously had an excellent matrix for their plasma lines and features. They really should consider doing this again, because this complication will delay my badly-needed purchase.
