After the BD-P1600 broke cover, it was just a matter of time until we got an in the wild look at Samsung's BD-3600 Blu-ray player, seen here hanging out at a Best Buy as
some commenters had indicated. That $399 price is enough to pick up the BD-Live storage, 7.1 analog outs and 802.11b/g/n WiFi dongle missing from the BD-P1600, while super slim wall mounting bliss remains the exclusive domain of the BD-P4600. Deciding between this and the
DMP-BD80 without some real hands on time may be tough, but at least until Amazon
has some HD on top of their VOD, Netflix streaming is probably enough to sway our decision.
[Thanks, Eric]
This is good news. I have been waiting for my distributor to start getting some inventory in stock so that I can compete against the big boys in my little online TVS TELEVISIONS ONLINE shop.
Does anyone know for sure if this model is equipped with the HQV Reon Chip as the 2500 and 2550 are? Wanting a secondary Blu-ray player to my PS3 and wondering if I should just grab the 2550 while i can.
Samsung electronics are ugly! Everything they make looks like cheap tacky rip-offs.
I found one! :)
Bought the BD P3600 over the weekend. The wireless works great! The streaming is great!
I believe it is the 2550 but includes a wireless doggle that is inserted into the USB port. It also has File Sharing on the PC which is good for playing DIVX files located on you PC. It works just fine after a bit of configuring the thing to see the network.
Where did you find one? I heard they aren't going to be out until April and that BB is only showing the displays. I'm looking for faster load times than the 2500. Anyone able to compare?
I picked one up at BestBuy yesterday (3-27), they've have them for a couple of weeks. Went into BB to purchase the BD-P2550, but they were out of stock, manager said they were phasing them out - i.e. wouldn't be getting any more. I must have had a good disappointed look, he sold me the BD-P3600 for the same price as the 2550 - $349. They are basically the same unit inside, however with the new styling the buttons on the 3600 are on top instead of the front - which I dispise as I have stacked components, I'll be required to use the remote to open and close the tray. The only other difference is the 3600 comes with the wireless USB dongle and has the latest firmware (no update found), otherwise its the same unit as the 2550. Netflix, Pandora, PC file access were easy to setup, only wish the unit had a web interface to make it even simplier.
