The amount of electronics thrown away rather than recycled in 2007.
The EPA reports that 82% of electronics disposal in 2007 ended up in the garbage (mostly landfills) rather than a recycling center. (source: EPA, July 2008)

I played around with this beast for a while at BB yesterday. The picture is super clear, very comparable to the a850. The extras, Yahoo news, Flikr browser etc., seemed a but sluggish, but that could have been the network speed at BB.
I just wanted to comment on why best buy gets samsung gear supposedly before anyone else, i can say that i think its because alot of their Magnolia sales associates prefer them over most other brands, except kuros on the plasma side... my friend who works their says they sell samsung lcds 2-1 over every other brand including xbr's
click the 360 spin link. these are about 1" thick.

Oh yeah, and almost 75% of bestbuy's TV's will be reset on March 22nd and then another smaller reset on May 3rd.
Looks great, but Samsung doesn't show this new one on their sight??? http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/type/type.do?group=televisions&type=televisions
OK I really had to search Samsung, I finally found it http://www.samsungusanews.com/product-resources/?catid=42&fbid=YZEtQTkRjtx
is there still any word on what type of leds this set uses. is there normal white leds or does it use the newer edge techonogy. i think if i make the plunge i want the rgb leds
i work for bby and i put the 46b7100 55b7100 and 40b6000 on display tonight the 55 ended up next to the 60 in kuro and most customers will pick the sammy over the pioneer it does have a great pic but the kuro looks more natural but thats a whole nother argument the new samsung led line makes every other lcd look like dog poo i put it up next to the 52 xbr6 and the xbr looks washed out, even against the 750 the 7100 won hands down and the 46 i have on a vudu feed looks amazing yes i can pick apart the new led line over pioneer but with pioneer leaving the market, the sammy will rule. just my opinion. american customers like "bright tv's " and really dont care about color acc. etc etc and the way this market is i can see why a cust.would pick the 55 sammy over the kuro .
Yup, we have the 46 and 55-inch at our store, and the 40" 6000 as well.
The things are stupid thin, great picture, nice UI, and generally the best LCD I have seen this side of the XBR8.
We have yet to hook one up to BD, and I can only imagine how much better it will look.
That's a Magnolia display in the picture, but no... the reason why Best Buy gets all the Samsung stuff early is because the company in general has a very tight relationship with the Samsung reps. They drop by the store 2-4 times a month, shoot the breeze with associates, and generally provide support to a lot of questions. It's not necessarily that the associates personally prefer them.
here at avad we had some of these new panels for almost 2-3 weeks.
I work at Magnolia (BBY) and i must agree, I sell more samsung than all other brands combined. I barely even have to convince anyone, (except the hardcore sony nuts!) If they can afford it I recommend pioneer (KURO or ELITE).
I work in Magnolia as well and I agree, Samsung is one of the biggest sellers. Elite definitely beats anyone on the market but they're leaving so unfortunantly it's going to be LCD all the way (unless the Panasonic Z1 is just that amazing that we're getting). Now the 7100 does use just white LED's and honestly I wasn't very impressed with its picture, it looked washed out and off-axis is still pretty bad. If you want LED backlighting, XBR8 is still the way to go.
P.S. Even though it's on display in the Magnolia area in those pictures, it's not a Magnolia product, just regular core. The new Magnolia Samsung will probably be LED backlite with 240hz.
PoS
Actually, according to Samsung reps that I see, BBY gets their Samsung models first becuase they are one of few companys that are still able to buy their product, and not using credit.
How does the off-axis contrast on these new models hold up. Some previous models fell way short in this regard.
I just saw it today at Best Buy and Samsung has now put it on their website. So I take it that they are going to start pushing this today. This also makes sense for why they are dropping their Plasma line. They don't want 3 types of tv, just have two kinds.
I agree with several above, the picture was ridiculous... they were playing Walle on Blu and it looked great and I thought I could pick up the tv with my right thumb.
I got some pics yesterday from a friend of mine who works at BB of this set. It's amazingly thin, and he said BD looks absolutely stunning.
Wow, I'm excited to see this TV when it comes to my store. I wonder what the specs are. Most importantly is it 120 or 240hz?
Work at HHGregg, our b6000s hit Sat., 7000s expected this week. Insanely thin! Pic quality very compareable to a850.
dude i work in best buy and all i have to say in short words so i dont have to go into details is that this tv is 1.2" thin and it comes in a outsatnding 55" and the border of the tv is made of recycle materials and to be only 1.2" thin it has 4 hdmi inputs and the beeeeest part is an "rss" info link and also is and amazing 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio dude thats insane for a lcd, led tv but if u want more info just go to best buy and talk 2 one of these ht magnolia specialist or any ht pro like myself but this tv is a whole new thing... only hing missing it should of been 240hz... but i guess u can win em all right?!
Any idea when the 8000 series/240 hz will hit the store?
I went in to Best Buy today to look at TVs and they had these things on display at the front of the store. Changed my whole gameplan when it comes to buying a TV. I'm not a video expert, but as an average consumer I'd have to say that this TV was the first time I was ever just floored by something in video. The whole 1080p BluRay thing never impressed me that much, until I saw the movie Transformers being played on this set. I could have SWORN that it was not the same footage as the Transformers DVD my son has. The picture REALLY popped off the screen and had me feeling like I could reach out and touch the actors.
Simply the best and most amazing picture I've seen on a TV. It was almost TOO good, so good in fact that it didn't feel like a proper movie watching experience - felt more like being there watching the actors being filmed in person - and this actually felt like it was detrimental to the movie watching experience.
Amazing picture though.
You all are brain washed by THIN, who cares! The picture of the 750 is far better than the 6000 or the 7100. Much more even lighting without that edge non-sense. The edge lighting systmen is terrible. Poor, poor off axis viewing, light bleed through in the corners and any small amout of atifacting is magnified by the side lighting. Don't waste your money, buy the 650 or 750 and use the extra chash for a BD player.
