Digital Playground announces its 100th adult Blu-ray release
Make no mistake, the crew at Digital Playground has been busy. Real busy. Since going Blu-ray exclusive last June, the famed adult film studio has pushed out a staggering amount of titles on the high-def format. A full 100 of 'em, in fact. The company's Bad Girls will be its 100th Blu-ray release, a 100-minute feature (fitting, no?) that is slated to ship on March 31st. 'Course, you'll be paying a $30 premium for the BD edition over the $29 DVD, but how else will you truly be able to appreciate that RED ONE footage?[Via I4U News]

woohoo!
Me Loves Me Some High Def Honeys!!
That's a hell of a premium. Any idea how the quality is on the Girls Gone Wild BDs available for < $20 on Amazon?
I have a few adult BD titles including Digital Playground and even though it's 1080p hi-def most of them have this soft blur over everything making it look more like great upscaled DVD then true 1080p. I think it has something to do with them trying to hide actors' flaws but I wasn't too impressed with the quality overall.
Don't get me wrong, it looks better then DVD, just seems a bit washed out and I have issues with this because an average BD for adult titles is between $40 and $50.
Vanity. The same reasoning behind washed-out HDTV programming has invaded the adult BD's. Imperfections on the human body are a major problem for actors and journalist. Out-of-focus reproduction is counterproductive to the expensive equipment required to view high-definition. The cosmetics industry is doing cartwheels as makeup sales are soaring.
@TRT I don't know what's worse on TV, having it look slightly blurry or having a jarringly clear distinction of where make-up ends and the neck begins.
Actually, the Jack's (Playground, T**n America, etc.) titles aren't so filtered. If you really want things unfiltered, yet high quality, check out Anabolic's titles. Be warned: the ladies of Anabolic aren't the best looking. Watching them on screen might remind you of your own encounters of taking what you can get at the bar around closing time!
I thought this was supposed to be the reason HD-DVD would win the war. I remember the BDA saying they could not waste their precious production resources on this tawdry material, but when exactly did this change?
What the hell does this have to do with BDA?
It's a reasonable and needed, albeit unwanted move in order to keep up the perceived perfection of actors/esses in the "adult" industry,
FAR, FAR, FAR be it from the BDA to tell any production company what choices they can make. Make-up only goes so far.
HD-DVD lost man, nobody cares about your fanboy argument logic.
When I was in the Hustler Store in New Orleans a couple of weeks ago, I saw that they had quite the selection of BD titles, however they were all priced at $50 and up. Based on the histories of the porn industry and emerging formats, these prices need to drop fast is BD wants to stick around.
3D on a new LaserVue would be awesome!
This is great! There's nothing sexier than a herpes sore about four feet tall in 1080p in your home theater.
Gack!
