I have a few adult BD titles including Digital Playground and even though it's 1080p hi-def most of them have this soft blur over everything making it look more like great upscaled DVD then true 1080p. I think it has something to do with them trying to hide actors' flaws but I wasn't too impressed with the quality overall.
Don't get me wrong, it looks better then DVD, just seems a bit washed out and I have issues with this because an average BD for adult titles is between $40 and $50.
Vanity. The same reasoning behind washed-out HDTV programming has invaded the adult BD's. Imperfections on the human body are a major problem for actors and journalist. Out-of-focus reproduction is counterproductive to the expensive equipment required to view high-definition. The cosmetics industry is doing cartwheels as makeup sales are soaring.
@TRT I don't know what's worse on TV, having it look slightly blurry or having a jarringly clear distinction of where make-up ends and the neck begins.
Actually, the Jack's (Playground, T**n America, etc.) titles aren't so filtered. If you really want things unfiltered, yet high quality, check out Anabolic's titles. Be warned: the ladies of Anabolic aren't the best looking. Watching them on screen might remind you of your own encounters of taking what you can get at the bar around closing time!
“An engineer explained to us that hundreds of ear impressions were gathered in the name of research, and while each one obviously boasted its own unique shape and size, one single characteristic remained uniform across the board: the entrance into the ear canal is not a perfect circle, it's an oval.”
