Samsung says that the P3600 has the Silicon Optix Reon chip (the only reason to look at any of these and last confirmed in the P2500/2550). The reviewers, pundents, forums, tech mags . . . all say no. That the Reon, which makes DVD upscaling near Blu-Ray quality and upgrades the Netflix streaming dynamically, was traded for WiFi or eliminated for cost reasons. For $400, I expect the Reon or one of its better big brothers onboard. The spec sheet for the 2500 shows a HQV chip (listed as the Reon) and makes a point of the quality. The 3600 spec sheet only depicts how DVD is, in their eyes, identical to BD, but does not say how it's done.

OK! So what's the real story?!!!! Anyone know? I can't imagine Samsung being that stupid and make that type of quality change that singled them out on the market. But then . . . . .

. . . fb

P.S.
AND WHAT WERE THEY THINKING with the new form factors. Maybe they did go nutz and trashed the product line. It wouldn't be teh first time that East did not meet West.

FarmerBob

Comments on Samsung's 2009 Blu-ray player lineup officially priced

Put me down for liking the look of the 4600.
