The BD-35 is still on sale elsewhere in the world. Like here in New Zealand (and by this I mean Panasonic are still selling the units wholesale themselves). And that firmware update site is the global Japanese site. So it's not surprising that the global site has a firmware update for hardware that is still on sale, right?

tsamb

Comments on Panasonic updates firmware for discontinued DMP-BD35 BD player

Panasonic has been updating all of their Bluray players consistenty....

I own the BD-30 and have updated my player every couple of months.

Unknown

Comments on Panasonic updates firmware for discontinued DMP-BD35 BD player

actually the 2nd last firmware update on 2009/2/9 fixed Stability of decoding for HD audio, etc.
this latest firmware update on 2009/3/31 fixed BD-V Playability.
Pany is definatly the best at keeping their firmware updating. They surprisingly seem to be the best player vendor when it comes to keeping a consistent stream of firmware updates going for their devices; well, them and Sony would have to battle it out, anyway. I've not seen any problems playing any BDs yet, though, and of course the automatic firmware updating over the Internet is quite nice.

Thanks Panny engineers, you're doing a good job.

demon

Comments on Panasonic updates firmware for discontinued DMP-BD35 BD player

Panasonic Blu-ray player DMP-BD35, STINKS! I am trying very hard to hide my anger, I am so tired of companies milking me out of my hard earned dollars that I am about to go postal! I bought this player at Christmas time and by Feb. I ran into problems. Itried to play brand new purchased DVD movie "Deal", message displays cannot play this rating? my ratings are set at "allow all" no blocked settings. This same DVD played fine on my crappy $40.00 DVD player but not on my expensive new "Blu-Ray DMP-BD35! Embarassed in front of a room full of people that I had been bragging to about my new Blu-ray player, I then put in Brand new "Blu-ray" DVD movie "X-Files" and display says I need to update firmware! I spent 3 days on Panasonic web site trying to download firmware update, 7 downloaded discs later and I still could not update, my DMP-BD35 goes through the process and instead of "finish" I get "STOP" or "E-error" Since I have "Vista" I even tried the ole' windows XP trick to download update, to no Avail!! This to me is just another example of the "Fleecing" of America, frankly I am sick of it! Thank you for allowing me to vent...since the Panasonic support site only allowed me 600 charaters-hell they won't even let me vent!- Whew I am glad to get this off my chest!

Belinda Jones
