But i'd really hate its features to be limited.
I know it is all speculation, but i'd want a full feature set.

1- unlimited subscriptions (season passes to shows i like)
2- option to add extra internal hard drive, to augment current one & add capacity, and at least have a decent sized hard drive to start, nothing under 500gb.
3- tivo 2 go
4- allow transfer to programs like Toast for mac, so you can back them up to disc.
5- Blockbuster for Tivo. would love to do video rental from the tivo box
6- Netflix VOD access
7- Amazon VOD access
8- networked tivo's. allow multiple tivo's on a home network to share programming and watch on different tv's. ie if your living room has LOST, allow you to access it from your bedroom.
9- program remotely, ie over website or maybe a iPhone app.

If directv cripples Tivo's technology, what is the point? we want the best in leading technology, hell we are going to pay for it!!

otherwise, i'd start demanding to legislators that Directv and Dish need to start offering the functionality to tru2way cards that would work with satellite tv provider.

hey, if Cable companies need to play by those rules, why not satellite companies?????

mitchelljd

Comments on TiVo's Cable Show '09 presence reveals online scheduling, plans to expand distribution

When I was looking for info on the Directivo last month, it looked like it was pushed back to 2010, if ever.

Would be killer if you could get Netflix on it, but that's questionable since Directv may think that it competes with their ppv service. In reality, I never us that, just netflix. They should just rebrand it 'netflix hd ppv' ;)

Kumar

Comments on TiVo's Cable Show '09 presence reveals online scheduling, plans to expand distribution

That's a bummer if it is being pushed back to 2010. I have crappy MDU cable in my condo consists of a great big sat dish on the roof, which pipes DirectTV into each of the units over QAM, which my beloved Series 3 Tivo can read. I can upgrade and get a DirectTV box and have the signal piped in from the satelite, but then I lose Tivo. I put up with the crappy channel selection so I can keep using Tivo along with Pytivo which serves up ANY type of video format from PC to Tivo.
If Tivo keeps Tivo to Go for Direct TV that would be great and I'll sign up for DirectTV in a heartbeat. I basically want all of the greatness that is Tivo to work with DirectTV. Don't change anything.
I've tried out Netflix/Tivo and I've already watched all 3 of the movies available that I wanted to watch. Meh.

Missile-Mike

Comments on TiVo's Cable Show '09 presence reveals online scheduling, plans to expand distribution

The online listing sites provided by Tivo and Comcast both suck big time. Both are poorly designed and tedious to use. zap2it.com is better and supports online scheduling for current Tivo (not sure about Comcast Tivos though). The best listing site in my opinion is titantv.com. The full-screen layout is excellent, and it is very customizable. Unfortunately they don't support online scheduling for Tivo, but if you just want to browse the listings it is fantastic.

chumley

Comments on TiVo's Cable Show '09 presence reveals online scheduling, plans to expand distribution

How shocking, nothing new (or relevant) from the land of Tivo.

No tru2way talk
New new hardware (Series 4)

Rich

Comments on TiVo's Cable Show '09 presence reveals online scheduling, plans to expand distribution

TiVo can be added to my Moto HD DVR box supplied by Cox?
