This is one of the many reasons I dumped Comcast years ago. You're paying them a hefty fee, and they are still dumping advertisements in your face on the guide. It must be a huge money maker, because I know that people complain to them on a daily basis about it, but they intentionally do nothing. If fact, they have done the exact opposite using their two way communication to target you. And we all know targeted ads make more money than generic ads. Hey, we could not help noticing you were watching NBC last night. You must like this product then!
DirecTV does not do this crap. If they ever decide to, they will lose a customer forever. I refuse to put up with ads being shoved into your face on a guide. That is one of the major reasons I bought a DVR. To get away from ads. I can wait a few hours to watch a show. No skin off my nose. But, it is nearly impossible to get away from ads completely. Real products are showing up in the shows on TV.
Grand times we live in, huh.
I mean, look at the advertising whore that Engadget is. They will not deny it either.
“An engineer explained to us that hundreds of ear impressions were gathered in the name of research, and while each one obviously boasted its own unique shape and size, one single characteristic remained uniform across the board: the entrance into the ear canal is not a perfect circle, it's an oval.”
