First, if you are creating DivX files then you should use the DivX encoder. Install DivX on your Mac and use DivX Converter or Streamclip or Quicktime Pro to create your own videos. VLC can not create DivX videos.

Second, if you purchase DivX VOD titles from sites like http://warnervideolive.com/ then you will need DivX Mac Player to view them. VLC will not work.

William Frantz

Comments on DivX 7 for Mac now available

BTW, DivX 7 for Mac is Intel only, meaning it's only available for about half the installed base.

riverside_guy

Comments on DivX 7 for Mac now available

This is a total let down to me. I installed the software on my new mac, and it doesn't ENCODE in DIVX PLUS HD. What is the point!! All of my files are now Divx Plus HD, I guess I'll have to either keep using my PC to encode files, or I am going to have to install Parallels Desktop and Windows XP and use DivX for windows. Why the heck didn't they include PLUS HD Encoding on the Mac?!!

BTW, looks like warnervideolive is only French at the moment. ;) I can't wait for this new format to fully evolve, my whole ecosystem at home is DivX and I love it, but very frustrated about the lack of Mac support. Everyone is getting a mac these days so get with the program!

djrobsd
