Verizon welcomes HD DVR owners, all cellphones to the Remote DVR party

It isn't an iPhone app, but we're sure plenty of people can appreciate Verizon's new, more widely available Remote DVR Management program. Previously limited to FiOS TV Media Manager subscribers only, accessed by the website or select VZW phones, now any FiOS DVR subscriber can queue up recordings via the website, while Media Manager subs can use http://m.verizon.com/tv from any cellphone, on any carrier for remote DVR programming.

DirecTV's WAP site has been available for DVR programming from any cell phone for close to a year now. It's only recently that the iPhone app became available....

more widely available...to Verizon customers. not everything is about Apple, you just read it that way.

I'm happy to have this. I wish you could set up a series recording though. As of now, you can only record set one show at a time to record. An iPhone app would be even better.

I tried it this weekend, and was actually impressed with the interface and speed at which the dvr is updated. I would delete a show form the web and it was pretty much instantly removed. I say impressed because the verizon website is generally anything but...

Acording to the Verizon web site this DVR only records 18 hours of HD programing! So the feature they should be adding a bigger hard drive.

Boy that is one ugly looking set top box.


Anyway, I'm hoping that cable providers follow suit. They always tend to be at the very last place for any type of innovation.
