I was just looking at my setup and thinking about what my next one needs for requirements.

One thing that bothers me about this industry is that in order to get a good number of HDMI, etc, you have to get a high end, large heavy receiver that includes like 50 other inputs. What I want is something that has basically just HDMI, with maybe one or two additional inputs for plugging in a digital camera now and then or something.

So here's my requirements, if someone can get me as close to this as possible, that would be really bitchin.

1) At least 3 HDMI inputs
2) Ability to accept audio over HDMI and process it and send to the speakers, instead of just passing through and requiring a separate audio input to do audio processing
3) wireless rear speakers
4) wireless sub
5) small and lightweight - dont' care about a ton of extra RCA inputs

Some limitations that annoy me:
1) lack of ability to transcode analog video to HDMI
2) lack of ability to accept HDMI audio and video, pass the video through, but process the audio and send to speakers (don't want to run separate optical cables for PCM audio)
3) WIRES
4) size / weight / power consumption / heat

Richard Glitter

Comments on Samsung AS730 HTIB review

Can anyone provide more information about what "rear wireless ready" means with the AS730? I'm looking for a simple, inexpensive 5.1 system (don't have room for 7.1) with wireless rear speakers, and was hoping that the AS730 could deliver. Is the wireless only available for the 7.1 mode, or can I use wireless out-of-the-box in 5.1? Thanks.

Michael L.
