Philips Prestigo SRT9320 color touchscreen remote ready for preorders, shipping someday
Just a bit closer to filling the hole in our lives where a $199 remote should be, the Philips Prestigo SRT9320 universal remote popped up for preorders on Amazon this month, regrettably the ship date is no more specific than "1 or 2 months," but unlike some things, we'll at least have the choice to buy this one. In case you've forgotten, it packs a 2.8-inch color touchscreen and can handle up to 20 devices, programmed directly on the remote itself or learned via IR.

that looks really good lets hope it works even better.
I wonder what setup is like on one of these. That is a good looking device.
It certainly LOOKS good, but I wonder about touchscreen remotes. Does anyone really want to look at their remote to activate a function beyond 'turn on/off stuff'?
Just give me infinite compatibility with good buttons, which is the most confounding fail in the industry-buttons...well located, durable yet comfortable. Is that so hard?
Looks good, but doesn't seem to have the most important buttons. Transport controls.
Skip Forward, Backward, Fast Forward, Rewind, Play, Pause, and Stop.
They need to be separate, and in the most economical spot, which is usually dead center of the remote. They ought to look at the Tivo peanut remote, then follow the button layout, then add in the touch screen after the fact.
Prestigo remotes have really impressed me. For a programmable learning remote that doesn't need a computer interface, it's really user friendly. I played with one while programming it for a customer when I realized we didn't have a proper remote for it. Very intuitive. Perhaps this one isn't the most ideally set up layout but the ones below this model are certainly well laid out.
They actually thought it was a good idea to leave off the numbers on the remote?
I have a Harmony One but I can't imagine not having actual tactile number buttons to push to change channels.
Not to shabby. I have a harmony remote that I actually cannot stand!
