How better to follow up the great DVD box set version of
Sin City than with an all-out
Blu-ray version (
Sin City - Recut, Extended, Unrated)? From the review at HollywoodChicago, that's exactly what Disney did -- the two-disc set scored across the whole trifecta: the video (
thankfully) kept the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and accurately captured the abundant dark area details, the 5.1-channel DTS-HD MA audio track left nothing behind and even the extra features provided something for diehard fans and more casual viewers who want to rearrange the jump-cut narrative into linear form for individual characters. Say what you will about a lack of colorific range in the movie, but it's Blu-ray releases that fully deliver the director's vision and one-up the DVD that will get people into Blu-ray despite its premium price.

I disagree.
Price is what stopped me from buying it this weekend.
Its (after tax in California) about 30$ just for this one movie. 30????? Forget that. I am looking to order on Amazong when the price hits at least 20$.
Buy.com has it for $21.89 US, that includes shipping. Amazon $24.99 US, BBuy online $29.99 US. That's a big spread and demonstrates how a 25 seconds of shopping can save over 26%.
I don't know what CA+local sales tax is in your area, but I'll bet it's bad (read: higher than average). One thing is almost certain: online sales will all be taxed before the next POTUS election.
It also got 98/100 in the AVSForum review:

"the 5.1-channel DTS-HD MA audio track left nothing behind"
How is it 5.1 if there's nothing left BEHIND??... (tehee tehee)
I'm glad at least somebody caught my pun! I was actually thinking that a 7.1-channel mix would truly have had something behind, and the 5.1 does not; but I'll take the one chortle from the crowd.
Hey, A 'no prize' for mi!
Awesome. Bluray is looking up. And it's only $16.99 at Best Buy (in Canada)
Make sure it's the right version. Canadians already had a blu-ray version of the movie but it's not the same as this. I believe it doesn't contain many of the extras and what not.
^MI. hahah good one. oh man that's +1 for you. lol
xtras are not worth the extra coin IMO - i love my $13US canadian version i bought several months ago - sweeeeeet...
Might be good visually for Blu-ray but overall the movie sucked. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Brilliant! Been waiting for this one. A fantastic film, and very well shot too.
Hopefully the UK release won't be too far behind.
ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!!!! Definitely a MUST buy. It is a reference quality disk!

Don't buy the Canadian version that's old. Its transfer doesn't match the Japanese release, let alone the domestic one.
