Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics set for (only?) an HD broadcast

Don't get us wrong, the news that Russia's first Winter Games will be in HD is great, obviously, but frankly we've become a bit spoiled as of late. We were figuring by 2014 they'd be moving beyond 3D, 1080p live broadcasts to straight 4K Silverlight streaming, or holograms, or something. Still, as high definition still spreads throughout Russia, for the moment at least, we'll pencil it in as "just" an HD Olympics, and be glad it's not the muddled mess of HDTV and widescreen SD we endured during the Torino Games in 2006.
that silverlight streaming was pretty sweet. I'm looking forward to more.
Well if it is still on NBC we should call it a HD* olympics.
*Technically 1080i but so straved for bits the 1998 analog brodcast looked better.
I wanted to see Hulu coverage this, but it probably dead by 2014.

We haven't even received any 1080p broadcasts yet and you think they'll already be giving 4k 3d broadcasts??
We may be in the now when it comes to HD or any new technology but your forgetting that there are still 3.5 million households in america unprepared for the analog cutoff and nearly 65-70% of homes still do not have HDTV yet.
We should count our blessings that at least we now have guaranteed programming in at least 720p/1080i.
