Analyst sees Wii HD in 2010
Really need to know when Wii games in 720p or higher resolutions will finally be officially available? In lieu of having no idea whatsoever, let us substitute the (slightly better?) option of dates pulled out of the air estimated by noted industry analyst Michael Pachter. He doesn't see any new consoles from the already-HD camp until 2013, with the long rumored Wii HD due in 2010. We know, 480p maximum output is the only thing keeping you from a fit, balance boarded lifestyle and also hope to see a proper high definition console from Nintendo as soon as possible, check the read link for all the financial details and reasonings why next year could be the year.

Still wouldn't buy one.
Wii is a amazing product in that everyone wants one and when they have one they can care less ..
I have no idea what this sentence is supposed to mean.
Me fail English? That's unpossible.
no hes saying everyone thinks they are the coolest thing when they dont have one, but when they do its just stuipd. i dont hate mine, but it is a paper weight. its kinda like a pool table or air hockey table at home. SOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOLLLL!!!! to your friends..... but not you.
Maybe I'm just the oddball here but the experience in my household has been quite the opposite of this generalization.
We have had a PS3 and a Wii in the house for quite some time.
The Wii gets so much use I'm wondering when we are going to wear it out.
The PS3 on the other hand sees very little use for games and we don't even
use if for blu-ray very often as we have a large library of DVDs that we prefer
to watch on our standalone upscaling DVD player.
I often have to fight the wife, kids & their friends for the living room TV because
they are on the Wii. In terms of entertainment for $ the PS3 has been less of a good investment for me.
Would I like an HD Wii? Sure. Has anyone in my house complained about its lack of HD support so far? No.
Having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting.
It is illogical, but often true.
I've had a Wii for almost 2 years, and it still gets used plenty in my house. Everyone I know who owns a Wii plays it regularly except for one friend who is just way too busy and travels for work a lot.
uh to teh air hockey and pool table guy. i know exactly what your talking about, i have both and even a foosball table but i live alone with my two dogs, and sure their fun when people come over but otherwise they collect dust. my friend was like how do you not waste all your time in here, i was like i live alone and air hockey by myself isn't that fun.
Well they are going to have to step it up. With products like PlayOn that now let you get half the TV you been watching and soon to be more on you PS3 and Xbox360. Sites like thefuzznetwork.com are taking full advantage of this. If Wii does't get off their butts they are going to fall behind. You will soon see Xbox and PS3 pick up the slack on the coolness of the Wii remote. Then Nintendo will fall behind. You can now get everything from Hulu, CBS, YouTube, The Food Network, HGTV, Podcasts, NFL Highlights, NBA Highlights and more through PlayOn. Everyone is going to have the Xbox 360 or PS3 in their living rooms.

Another attention whore making an 8 ball prediction. Throwing a prediction within a 12 month window. Pure genius.
I was disappointed when I found out it wasn't HD. I know they wanted to cut costs then, but it still prevented me from wanting one. They really have no excuse now to make it happen. Hopefully this is the last non-HD stuff we need to deal with. It's just expected now.
Consoles are now so far behind PCs I just don't see how they can NOT update in the next year or 2.
I know Sony expect their aging PS3 to soldier on for who knows how long now (the interview with David Reeves shows them now expecting the PS3 to come good in 3 - 5years - far far too late, surely?).

Hopefully Microsoft do not lose their nerve and launch the next Xbox when they should, around 2010/11.
The gap between PC & console is now so huge that the next consoles ought to be pretty impressive beasts.
"Consoles are now so far behind PCs",,,,,Can you elaborate?
In terms of # of users, i'm pretty sure consoles are waaaay ahead.
In terms of graphic, it's a tough one. PC's can look better, but that would be comparing Apples ($1500+) and Oranges ($300+). To add, one doesn't have to worry about upgrading parts on a concole. And, consoles can look pretty damn good in HD.
In terms of usability, it's up to the user. I like my RTS and FPS games on the pc, but sports and action games are great with a controller. and nothing beats having ppl over playing face 2 face on the sofa.

"PC's can look better"
PCs have been capable of far superior graphics ever since the PS3 and Xbox launched.
It's little wonder, as the PS3 uses an ancient Nvidia 7800GS for it's GPU and the Xbox uses the ATi1900.
Of course by being totally dedicated they can do better than one might expect but nevertheless their specs and abilities are now far far behind the PC world.
I look forward to the next Xbox, hopefully with a CPU heavily related to a quad core; 2gb or more DDR2 or 3 RAM (it's pretty cheap now); a nice up-to-date 512mb or 1gb GPU in the ATi 4850 class.
The mass production console use will bring to what are already inexpensive PC components ought to chop prices down significantly.
Hopefully we get some sensible HDD options (500gb - or perhaps, ideally we'll be able to fit our own).
Consoles and PCs both have their places. Consoles are immediate, easy to use and are ideally suited to sit by a TV. Consoles like the PS3 and 360 are more than capable of playing videos and music too with minimal user effort. PCs are powerful but obscenely over the top for most TV uses and harder to set up too which may be why HTPCs have been such a miserable failure considering their potential.
About time, main reason i sold my wii because the graphic is crap when display in hdtv. Not better than a xbox.
PlayOn adds $40 to the cost of the console and requires a computer to transcode.
Too much still.
Now tVersity on the other hand. :)
Playon is a nice option for $40 if you have already invested in the console and have a PC running 24/7. And doesn't tVersity also require a PC running 24/7, so how it that any different? Honest question: Can tVeristy stream Netflix and Hulu to your console?
Glenn:
It is different because it is free.
All the other requirements for PlayOn: Console, Computer, Electricity. That $40 is steep.
Also, Yes, for $30.
Still too expensive, but more useful than PlayOn.

Suprised Engadget hasn't reported it yet.
Wii's suck, i bought one for my kids and it was the biggest waste of money. For some reason they much prefer the xbox. I'd much rather get a ps3 over any new wii hd. I can load up on used games in a few years when they release the new console and maybe my daughter will get some use out of it.
Wii Tennis is one of the best games eve made. I just cracked the 2000 mark. I have a PS3 and Xbox but playing the Wii is by far the most fun and the graphics arent even that great. Go Wii!
