We never get tired of playing with new Blu-ray players -- even though they are all very similar these days -- but when something totally different comes around we have to admit it is more interesting. There is no doubt the new Samsung
BD-P4600 fits in that category. For one it is one of the only Blu-ray players with a slot loaded drive, but on top of that it is wall mountable and is one of the first Blu-ray players to have an optional WiFi USB dongle -- see it attached to the top left of the player? Of course while these things make it unique they don't necessarily make it a good Blu-ray player, that will take a little more time to figure out.
I think you should ask for some free samples of Swiffer to dust off that Speaker lol
LOL! I was just going to say the same thing! Swiffer Duster, people...located here: http://www.swiffer.com/en_US/duster.do
You can get it at your local Target store.
Filthy....
And the finger prints on the Kuro. Ben, you should be flogged for that. That a disgrace to all Kuro owner out there.
But Kevon it's on an articulating mount, so I'm always moving it.
No excuses... Latex gloves
Do I or do I not see another USB port where that dongle could plug in underneath the bottom cover? Seems a little silly to put it on the outside since it makes little difference in the signal quality at short range.
I don't think so, I believe the only USB port is the one on the side.
The spec sheet calls out two ports:
USB 2.0: 2
There's a second logo underneath the unit, which looks to be inside the large, open space. I can't imagine that the WiFi dongle couldn't be plugged in there, since the cavity seems large enough for it.
Nice work. You were right there was a second USB port under the cover opposite the rest of the plugs. The Wifi dongle fits there nicely.
That is definitely the ugliest player I have seen yet. I don't know why people would be attracted to this player
looks beautiful...but the side-loading disc would make it unfunctional for a cabinet.
Just not seeing the appeal of mounting a Blu-ray player on the wall.
This is the worst design -- who would mount this-- chris is dead on -- cant put it in a cabinet- not to mention if you put the doggle on what is the dimension -- who is this product designed for -other than slot loading --- awful- is the price really 499 -- get a ps3 and 2 games or 5 movies- and people are looking for a price cut on ps3-- this will not sell at all
Samsung...stop shipping lame ass cables with your Blu-ray players. Throw in a inexpensive HDMI cable. Heck Vizio even ships HDMI cables with their HDTVs and they are "budget" brand.
Why oh Why do they include RCA composite cables. I shiver thinking that there might be people out there with Blu-ray players hooked up with RCA cables.
And since it is samsung expect the firmware updates and support to end in about 6 months when a new model is released. Don't expect it to last longer than the warranty.
Bought time teh shrank them , I still do not understand why the original Sony's were enormous. Can't be that different from a DVD player inside.
Ugliest thing I have ever seen.
isnt this one of the only blu-ray players that has theanalog 5.1 outpuits so that people like me who dont have an hdmi surround sound receiver can get the full audio?
nevermind its the BD-P3600 that has the analog audio outs. can you guys get a hold of the BD-P3600 model. Do a review on it. Make sure that you review the analog audio outputs also
(i mean the 5.1 rca ports. rca ports for each channel).
This is a prime example of East not meeting West. Asia thinks that since we, the US, snapped up cameras in cellphones brought back from Korea by tourists, that we'll not "fall" for anything. As mentioned before Ugly is just plain ugly, and on a wall, that's where put spaghetti to see if it's done. And stacking gear, yup, that's something that is still widely done. I have to and want to. That's the first thing I thought of with the P3600. AND with the Silicon Optix HQV chip long gone, why even bother.
Darn should have gotten the P2550 for $300 when I had the chance. Maybe Samsung will see the enormous error in their perception of our buying habits and the next model will not have new features, but will have these abominations removed?
My gorgeous Samsung TV wants a Blu-Ray playmate, but this is ridiculous. Off to look for a refurb.
what the f..is the composite cable doing in there????????????
here are the official samsung.com specs if anyone is interested:

I bought this puppy over Memorial Day weekend from Amazon at a little over 100 bucks off. Nice deal. Beautiful machine. Really a shame that the "unboxer" didn't figure out to put the WiFi dongle UNDER the machine, where it belongs. I have it sitting up on the included pedestal, don't need wall mount option. Plenty of room to shove in a DVD as I planned ahead for the side-mounted slot load. Streams Netflix and Pandora like butter, my DVD's look great. I'll start purchasing Blu Ray's in the next week or so to continue to build my collection.
I got this because it doesn't look like "just another box" and looks play a big factor in my set up.
