A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

Yay for Satellite, and Fios. What's left. Oh yeah everyone on Cable.
Seriously why don't we see this on Cable yet? Everyone else's software runs circles around cable providers.
I'm excited by this news.
Wow, you need to have the DVR's ethernet connected. On DirecTV you just need to make sure it can hit a satellite, no internet required.
The Dish remote web page provides immediate feedback on conflicts with existing schedules, and also lets you control the DVR in real time. And, as the article said, if you have a Slingbox you can also watch any of your shows. You can't do that a one-way satellite connection.
But hey, DirecTV has great commercials... :)
JR - The one-way provider you speak of doesn't have Sling-enabled boxes either.
But my point being, to be able to use the service, you shouldn't be required to have it connected to the network.
And I'm only talking about remote-scheduling, no additional services.
I have been using the beta for a couple of months or so and it works great. Typically, I do it from my iPhone and they did a great job on the user experience. I could always offer a few recommendations, but I am also nit picky and try to refrain.
Cheers,
Lo
Its about time! Now I just have to work on my home network. Been procrastinating on doing this but I think its now worth my effort.
I've been using this feature for a few months and it is great!
I especially like the fact that you can edit the contents of the DVR from the web or iphone or ipod touch. And you can control the DVR from the touch -- which is really handy for when the wife misplaces the remote (or I want to mess with her from the other room).
I am very excited by this good news, thank you for your post , here I also have a great news for you all , that is Tradestead , now there are different kinds of beautiful and useful consumer electronics with very cheap price , why not have a look , I am sure you will find what you want!
Wish they would enable this feature if you don't have a Slingbox. I just want to be able to schedule the recording, not actually watch the recording. Slingbox should only be required if you want to watch it.
Works fine without a Sling device. I'm using it and have no Sling.
This has been active for about a month. Go to www.dishonline.com and click on the sling banner. Its pretty good for what it is, guess.
I just signed up for it. works pretty well. Now i just wish i could transfer video between my 2 VIP622's via ethernet.
Has anyone been able to use the "Playlist" and "Transfer" features on the 622 that came out in the 6/15/09 software release? I'm hoping playlist lets me queue a whole crapload of recorded shows to play back to back for when i'm feeling lazy on the couch or plan on sleeping or am sick.
