Shaw Cable offering 3D video on-demand, but not the good kind
In the race to bring home 3D Shaw Cable has taken an early lead, although we're not sure everyone would agree it's worth it. Together with Corus Entertainment, it's loading up the VOD library full of films, sports, concert events and other content all in anaglyph (red/blue) 3D and distributing glasses free of charge to all of its subscribers. No word on how much ordering up the content will cost or when it will be available, but the biggest factor in our disappointment is that while it will work on any television, the quality simply doesn't compare to proper stereoscopic 3D. Still, Canadians haven't been able to call "First" many times, we guess we'll let them have this one. [Warning: PDF read link][Via Digital Home Canada]

Hey! We have plenty of firsts! :)
First to help out in World War II
First in the world of banking
First to create a superhero (Superman)
The list goes on!
A Canadian also invented Basketball, but you can have 'im.....
Ugh. That logo is killing my eyes. Make it stop!
you obviously aren't wearing your red/blue glasses. I think I might still have mine from 25 years ago.
hehe, that's cold dude. ;-)
This kind of 3D is years and years old and lame. But now proper 3D is arriving it seems everyone is keen to jump on the "3D" name.
Yawn.
Shaw just went all digital on their TV service in British Columbia in the past month. All I can say about this announcement is; the deployment has been a complete disaster. Shaw is running more than double the bandwidth over old equipment, old cable and cable that is designed to max out at 550 Mhz but is now running at 800 Mhz. Shaw HD users are not able to record TV shows because of the digital drop outs that happen multiple times an hour. Watching without recording makes no difference but, those that have systems set to record are just wasting their money. Same goes for Pay Per View. Then there is the trouble with content duplication. While increasing their prices and decreasing their programming Shaw continues to make millions without any rate controls, customer service metrics, or requirement to give back to the communities they operate in. In short Shaw does what Shaw wants. It is the Shaw way or the highway.
