It seems
DirecTV has gone out of its way to let
Charter customers know about the cable company's
bankruptcy proceedings, airing ads that said there was no way it could continue to provide more HD channels and that customers needed to be saved from its bankruptcy. Apparently the U.S. District Court in St. Louis agreed the ads went too far in implying the company might be liquidating or about to stop offering service, issuing a temporary restraining order barring the ads. This is far from the
first time the law has had to jump in on one side or another of TV providers ads, we're just wondering when they'll jump in on ads touting "
choices," highlighting broadband speed without mentioning
bandwidth caps and pushing HD channels without copping to known overcompression issues.
That's pretty weak even for Direct TV.
its charters fault there bankcrupt they have crappy Internet service ive been barley able to get over a 1mb connection on a 3mb plan i check my data speed daily. There Cable sucks they have a lame HD Service it took them 2 and a half years to get more channles than just abc nbc CBS FOX and ESPN in march we finally got TLC Weather channel espn 2 tnt and tbs. even my old cable company in NJ has twice as many HD Channles than charter and there free! oh and custermer service is horrible to they get every thing they desirve imo
If you don't want to be associated with being "bankrupt", don't file for bankruptcy. I would think that is pretty pertinent information to anyone subbed to charter or considering to sub.
what, like they wanted to?....like your handle...stupid!
@Stan:
If the company went bankrupt because of bad practices, bad decisions, and bad customer service -- all of which are supposedly the case with Charter -- then how can you make the case that they *didn't* want to end up in bankruptcy? It sounds like a plan to eventually slam into a brick wall to me!
With few exceptions, you can't keep fscking over your customers and expect to stay in business especially when there *are* options like satellite available that your customers can go to.
And the pathetic ad hominem attack says more negative things about you than dslate.
Friends don't let friends subscribe to Charter cable TV.
which commercials are they referring to? The company boardrooms Two words "Federal.. Bailout" I really hope it's not those commercials because it's not mentioning charter whatsoever...
I know that in Birmingham, AL they have billboards talking about the charter bankruptcy and suggesting direct tv as a good alternative.
it's "too" far, not "to" far. As a journalist, you should try to correct that mistake.
I've heard these commericals and I thought they were a lil much too. I mean come on, everyone already knows what Charter is going through...
It's fair game. For thirty years the cable companies have had a monopoly and were continually raising rates and reaping billions by selling us 70 channels of crap which they chose for the most profitablilty. They lied to us about how competition was bad. Then why is eveyone jumping to Fios and Satellite? Because we get more for the money and were tired of the cable companies. Looks like competition worked to me. See ya later, good riddance.
