they are not technical
they have more money than free time
they would rather spend time watching movies instead of build a freaking computer
they would rather someone else worry about drivers, compatibility, software updates
if they experience a problem, they want to call someone to get it fixed rather than waste time troubleshooting
they aren't cheap and don't mind paying a premium for a turnkey solution if it costs only $500 more than the Frankenstein system you outlined.
