Warner Home Video has finally officially slated the
Fringe: Season One Blu-ray set for September 8, and included a few details about what to expect on the 5 disc set. The audio tops out with a 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack, but there will be a special Fringe Pattern Analysis extra bringing in "experts" to dissect 6 select scenes with notes photos and diagrams aimed to fill the hearts of those dedicated enough to spot The
Watcher Observer in each episode and decode the symbols that flashed before each one. Also included to go above and beyond the DVD experience are
BD-Live powered treats with Media Center, My Commentary and a somewhat vague note about exclusive commentary on the season finale with creator JJ Abrams. Feel excited enough to drop the $79.98 MSRP ($55.99 on Amazon)? Check after the break for an animated .gif of the lenticular packaging if you need just a little (really little) more incentive.
Bah! Dolby digital? Fuck that.
So much for uncompressed sound and HD audio. ;)
Correction: The Observer, not The Watcher.
Ha, you're right, but I frickin know Uatu when I see him, they can't fool me.
Hey now, Michael Ceveris's head isn't that big.
Worth a buy, if I have a job at that point.
One series, in the first season, my kind sir.
How many series in first season?

Dolby digital??!! Why would you waste your money, might as well by DVD, these are always great video transfers, what a rort.
This alone is almost enough is almost enough to get me to get a blu-ray player. But obviously, this alone is not enough to get a blu-ray player.
What's wrong with Dolby Digital for audio? It's what you heard on tv and with that show I really doubt you'd notice much difference anyway. I don't really understand why people would bypass the BD version just because of the audio. Get over it and enjoy the show in HD.
What he said.
Because the incremental video quality increase alone does not justify the price increase for blu.
Some episodes are cool, most are boring as heck. As well, the casting sucks. The main female character should be replaced with someone that actually looks good.
i dont have a high end sound system to take advantage of uncompressed audio anyway, but this should be a handsome blu ray. it already looked pretty good on fox in 720....
Is one of the exclusive features Not Sucking? Because it sure didn't have that when it aired. If they added that I'd buy it.
I like Fringe - not sure I'd buy it on Blu-ray though.
As for the audio being Dolby Digital, that's really not enough to put me off. DD is great quality and although I'd never turn down lossless audio, I think compressed is, for the most part, fine.

So buy it for what's on the discs, like every other release out there. What's not to understand here? It's the best looking, best sounding version of the show out there and people are complaining? Can't please everyone I guess. I didn't know people are still getting hung up over the price of Blu-Rays. It's not like we haven't discussed this topic a thousand times already. If you want it you'll buy it otherwise do like others and rent.
