Even better is that all their movies are displayed at 24 fps, regardless of resolution. I guess it would be cool to have some HD/HDX films permanently stored on the box, but like most people, I'm still a big fan of OOM (owning optical media). It's very frustrating when you want to RENT a hot new release but it's only available for purchase for 2-4 weeks before you can rent it. This is simply maddening to users. Some studios allow you to rent or buy on release date such as Warner Bros, other studios need to fall in.

casey

Comments on Buena Vista and Vudu to sell HD titles day-and-date with Blu-ray

I agree. Blockbuster and Netflix have rentals day and date so I'm not seeing why Vudu and other services shouldn't unless they are aware that if they do this they'll have zero Blu-ray sales.

Bozster

Comments on Buena Vista and Vudu to sell HD titles day-and-date with Blu-ray

It happens less and less but yeah it's still pretty annoying. There are two major flaws with this business model: 1) If you looking for something to watch on a box with access to thousands of different titles you'll just choose something else, and chances are it will be from a different studio! Also 2) for some of these I've used netflix to just rent the disc. The money they see from the netflix rental is tiny compared to the cut they get from a HDX rental.

It's funny how hard some companies will try not to take your money sometimes :)

Rob78
