Ad & broadcasting company tells government to give everyone HDTV

Being primarily focused on the consumer end of HDTV, we've rarely crossed paths with news from DG FastChannel, but this stopped us in our tracks. Put simply, it's a proposal to turn around some of that analog TV spectrum sale cash and distribute an HDTV to every household in the U.S. that wants one, digital converter box-style (everyone remember how well that worked out?) Considered seriously, we'd assume companies like DG FastChannel and its partners have invested greatly in preparing for HDTV and would love if all their viewers could see it that way, and we can certainly appreciate the idea that watching standard def is fundamentally wrong. Still, new digital divide or not this attention grabbing bit of PR probably has about as much chance of getting high definition in every home as there is of another DTV switch delay in the next three days.
Everyone line up with their hands out.....
As much as I appreciate the sentiment, the country's already a couple trillion in the hole. If we're going to dig ourselves deeper, how about spending $ on something useful, like fixing the road in front of my house.
Right, like the Govt will just give away billions of tax payer and borrowed dollars. Oh, wait...
If they want us to watch their ads in HD, why doesn't DG FastChannel just buy everyone a new HDTV? That way we can cut out the governmental middle-man.
The more U.S. own China, in end of the day will be just like Firefly.
The government should invest in the people not toys.
Just shows how out of touch some people are.
If this DG FastChannel is this great advertising company (whom I've never heard of), why don't they make pursuasive commercials to convince people that they need HD TVs?
The government already did sort of. George Bush sent every one a $300-600 stimulate check, I use mine to help pay for a 32 inch Magnavox HDTV. I am single so it only cover half I had to pay the other $325.
I'm sure China couldn't agree more with this attitude. Let's put more of our tax money in the pockets of our eastern masters.
