New Total Home DVR, remote scheduling & guide features coming to U-verse
C'mon now, you knew as well as we did that AT&T couldn't just...stop after rolling out Total Home DVR to its entire U-verse service area, today it's announced a few new tweaks that it plans to roll out over the next few weeks and months. Look forward to the ability to schedule and manage recordings from any U-verse receiver, not just the DVR itself, a newly enhanced remote scheduling website and an On Demand top picks app to find movies viewers might like based on their past recommendations. If that's not enough, Starz is free for July, plus a speed bump to 12 Mbps for Internet Max subs and a slightly streamlined program guide that should make the Enter button a bit more useful while browsing or watching TV. Check out the PR for the full details as most of these will be rolling out in different markets over the next few weeks, or check out the video embedded after the break.

Looking forward to it!
First
you fail at everything including life itself.....
This is great, im sick of having to walk across the house and turn on the tv to schedule a recording.
I love my U-verse but thought a glaring omission was the ability to schedule and delete programs from any tv. This is nice.
Wake me when they allow more than 2 HD streams and decrease the horrible compression they do to all their tv streams.
The entire system needs more bandwidth for tv and until they increase it it is not worth the cost.
The internet speeds are fine though.
Total Home DVR tech already exists in many programs and things like Media Center.
Dear AT&T: Let's stop re-inventing the wheel and give us the ability to tune uVerse programming on our device of choice.
It's easy to roll a feature out for a block of houses. Try expanding beyond an area the size of a bouillon cube.
I'm thinking about switching from comcrap to uverse. I have a TivoHD right now though and I really like the wishlist and auto-record wishlist options. Is there anything similar on the uverse DVR?
Wtf, my U-Verse box is never that quick to respond. Mine lags like a mofo.
THDVR Phase 2 rolled out in parts of Austin already. Some that had the same issue as you said that is fixed now.
Nice.
So now it really doesn't matter which tv the dvr is on the dvr might as well be a NAS in your basement
The only thing the non DVR boxes can't do after this update is pause and rewind live tv. That is coming with the third update which should follow this one by 6months to a year. Simple workaround. Start recording the program and watch the recorded program from the non dvr box.
Maybe I missed something, but isn't Internet Max already 12 Mbps?
I don't understand why these new comers keep adding features like this. It all sounds great but most people won't even know how to use it. What Verizon or U-Verse need is integrated Fantasy Sports overlays with support of someone like Yahoo or CBSSportsline. You know how many people would jump ship in a heartbeat if they offered something like that?
Richard,
U-verse does have an interactive app for fantasy football that integrates with your Yahoo account on their U-bar. think they had one too for march madness brackets.

I love the new Total Home DVR additions and have been really happy with U-verse for a year and half after switching from TWC. I currently have four U-verse boxes connected to a 42" 1080p Panasonic plasma, a 52" 1080i Mitsubishi DLP, and two JVC CRT's, a 32" and 27".
Sure enough, by the time I woke up this AM, the update had come thru my Austin based boxes. My biggest complaint with the Total Home DVR was that once I was in the bedroom in bed, I couldn't delete shows I'd watched & had to remember to do it next time I was in the living room and that I couldn't set something new up to record. The latter issue was especially bothersome when I got halfway thru a show and was too tired to finish it up. I was SOL unless I wanted to get up and turn everything on in the other room or else PRAY that it would air again (and I could find it) so I could finish watching.
Now all they have to do is increase the HDD and give me a little more storage space and find a way to watch or record more than two HD streams at a time.
The only thing that has kept me from switching to this is the inability to control live tv from any set.
