Apparently a casual mention on the Engadget HD podcast is enough to bring anyone out of hiding, as
Joost follows
Managed Copy out of the shadows, showing off a test of a new interface for the video streaming website that is optimized for the
PlayStation 3 web browser. Simply pull up
http://labs.joost.com/tv/ from the console, and then the controller buttons will easily control all the video playback from there. Joost went in the reverse of
Hulu,
YouTube XL and others, from desktop app to browser only, but it seems
finally ready to offer new ways, through this
10-foot style interface, to get on the TV.

My PS3 browser is so slow, I rarely use it. It takes a couple of minutes to display the youtube XL home page. Playing a video in Hulu is hit or miss, and takes forever to load. It thrashes its hard drive interminably, and often hangs after playing a youtube video. It's not my internet connection because I have no such problems with my PC which is several years older than my PS3.
sounds like your hard drive is failing. Nice thing is, unlike the 360, you can buy any 2.5" laptop drive and replace it (minus installing the OS)
Don't think there's anything wrong with the hard drive. The unit's seen very little use and it's been doing this as long as I can remember. If it was a bad HD, it would have failed by now. On Windows systems, hard drive thrashing is caused by too little RAM. I'm inclined to believe the OS/firmware is at fault.
sounds strange. you should check that thing in. my ps3 browser is lighting fast- just a bit behind browsing on my laptop with firefox. i always watch tim and eric clips on youtubexl or adultswim.com and never have any problems...
You using wireless? Maybe you wifi is slowing you down? I've read about that, but idk if the posts are old by mine sucks with wireless too.
that URL should be-- http://labs.joost.com/tv/
http://labs.joost.com.tv/ takes you to some random chinese site from the look of things
Fixed, thanks
i seriously am not holding my breath for this.
I'll check it out, but there's nothing "strange" about a slow PS3 browser, as anyone can easily learn by googling "slow ps3 browser".
I like the interface and the playback is improved over what I experienced before. I'm glad to see Joost making thins nicer on the ps3.
Either I'm blind or the browsing is nonexistent. Maybe that's coming.
The rates of PS3 is really expensive i think you should purchase a refurbish laptop instead of PS3 and you could be able to enjoy all the versions of PS in a comforatable manner................
